I know I'm going to sound like a heretic, but a few months ago before the originals began to shoot through the roof on eBay I was looking to piece one of these together from parts. My cousin's shop had a couple of vintage Coronados in stock, but I didn't like the rickety bridge, the pickups seemed hit or miss and I really wished that it had a center block like the 335.

To me, this seems like it answers all the problems I had with the original. I liked the way they looked overall, but they just seemed too fidgety for me, and I had no interest in getting the old pickups rewound hotter (which is what I heard a lot of people doing).

Maybe I just didn't want a Coronado, but with this new series I do now.

Just FYI, Andertons here in the UK are listing both the Coronado and Starcaster as available starting 10/10/13.

Standard price seems £574 for the Coronado in candy apple red/black, £611 for the sunburst colours, and £656/£684 for the basses.

    Same pricing on the Starcasters.

    Seems an excellent price.

I like the natural headstock! I've seen loads of originals with all kinds of headstocks, including an awful red guitar/black headstock combination.

Interestingly, the guitar in the demo video is branded as a "Coronado II", while the images on the Fender website all just show the headstock with "Coronado".

I didn't notice that. Could they still be developing a bit on them or? The Black one with matching headstock would've been cool, but that's just my opinion :)

Oh, I'm all for options. I wish it came in the aged cherry burst like the new Starcaster.

I also wish there was a version with a vibrato. Courtney Taylor-Taylor from my favourite band The Dandy Warhols plays an original Antigua burst Coronado II with a vibrato, and uses it on loads of songs. I'd like to be able to play along properly

I'm going for a 5420 for a full-sized hollow body and a Coronado for the double cutaway. Because Dandy Warhols :D

I too am waiting for an antigua edition. They must make a limited edition befare too long if they're true to their roots.

Antigua is gotta be the butt ugliest color ever invented. I guess that's the charm. I for one won't miss it.

The UK store date is 10th October, so I guess it's a little earlier for the US stores too.

Regarding colours, I'd love them to reissue it in the Lake Placid Blue:
