So as not to demean the comedy movie thread, what are your favorite TV comedies?

    Blackadder
    Monty Python
    Night Court
    3rd Rock
    Addams Family

    Oldies?
I remember watching Milton Berle, Red Skelton, and Ernie Kovacs.
    5" screen B&W TV at it's best.

I never did like Lucy, but Desi was OK.

I might be a little twisted, but Norseman has my vote. Many moments of hilarity punctuated with ample crude humor.

But I'll go with Mr. Bean and Monty Python if I'm being more conventional.

Don't know if anyone on the other side of the pond knows these ones as they are particularly Scottish and Irish but they are absolutely brilliant 'classics':

    Rab C. Nesbitt
    Still Game
    Mrs Browns Boys
    Para Handy

Other than some of those mentioned:
    Wkrp in Cincinnati
    The Office
    Andy Griffith

Damn Fawlty Towers, I still laugh hard even though I have seen each episode numerous times

I figured our friends across the pond would have some good ones---
    Benny Hill
    Dave Allen At Large
    Rising Damp
    Dad's Army
    Fawlty Towers

How could I forget WKRP? Especially the Thanksgiving episode!

Hard to believe that only 12 episodes were ever made, but it had such a lasting effect. Manuel was one of my favorite characters.

I didn't get where I am today by not recognizing great TV comedies when I see one.

The episode where Reggie gives multiple "exclusive" interviews is brilliant.

    "I am congenial liar. "
    "Don't you mean, congenital liar?"
    "No, I'm enjoying myself."

RIP Leonard and multiple cast members.

    Hmmm...

Gilligan's Island - an innocent show as a kid that can play differently as an adult and I'm a Mary Ann guy

M*A*S*H - The first three seasons were comedy with some drama. Then it became a dramedy and Alan Alda soapbox special but still largely brilliant all around.

All in the Family - Can't really summarise Norman Lear's groundbreaking tv perfection in a sentence. Other than saying just that.

Sanford and Son - Also brilliant adaptation work from Norman Lear.

Three's Company - Just so much to love from each character over the years but Priscilla Barnes was my favourite "blonde".

Night Court - An absurd, over-the-top classic with a very strong humanist message.

Arrested Development - The first three seasons are all I watch. Four and Five from Netflix are unwatchable to me. Once was enough. The magic is lost. I don't want a sxith season.

Archer - Heh. Perfect. I was late to the party. I resisted people telling me to check it and then binge watched the first six seasons on Netflix. It's an all time top 10 to me.

Funny how three of four of America's best from the 70's were adaptations of British work. And yes, Fawlty Towers is on my list. And my shelf. But I just did US network shows, no PBS or TVO imports.
