Yo, MJB - how heavy is your Duo Jet with the steel top? It sure looks fantastic! I have all my dream Gretsches - though another one - a thin hollowbody - could end up in the house.

Have you still got your drawing? scan it in, letsavalook
Whoa, that's quite the collection! Beauties!
Ohh I dunno, I didn't factor weight into it... it's only a 3d mockup, it doesn't actually exist in real life. Yet
My drawing is around somewhere but i have no way of scanning it,and now my camera has decided to die.
Yeah man, I think it would be. I don't have CS money right now, so I'll have to found out later...
Aw man, sounds like you’re having a bad day!!
Well..if you find it and a friend could take a photo with their phone, that would be cool
Lol yeah my ‘guitar fund’ is dwindling somewhat too!! Gonna have to stop buying them.
But probably not
Ps, I’m really digging that white panther Doug.

Rearrhhh! Thanks! It's a wonderful guitar.
No, thanks, I'll keep my Broadway Jade Penguin for the following reasons:
1. The wood choice is ideal to get the tone I like ... mahogany body with a maple cap and neck.
2. The double cut in combination with the short neck joint gives fantastic high fret access.
The only critique is the slight head heaviness, when standing. When sitting it is nicely balanced.
I think here the G6128T DCM Jet had an advantage due to the smaller heastock.
Choosing a metal cap in my opinion is a bad idea from a tonal perspective ... and how do you avoid corrosion?
A metal cap would make zero difference tonally. No difference from having a metal pickguard as my Astro Jet does. It can be chrome plated or any number of coatings to avoid corrosion.
Now THAT is sweet. Beautiful metal work... and completely custom made for you I see. Very nice.
Yep, aint nothing wrong with metal tops..
I made the pickguard, just outsourced the engraving
Nice work man! Looks great
Ok ... but the wrong Bigsby ... tension bar sucks
And the knob placement, though it looks great, might be suboptimal from an ergonomic perspective.
You have to admit, it’s pretty nice lookin'
As soon as I saw it on this: I must admit... I kinda fell head over heals in love.
..with the guitar I hasten to add
Yes ... nice song, btw. I didn't know, this guitar really exists and that Jack still plays it, as it seems:
Fact is Gretsch urgently needs a nice double cut Jet in it's lineup like the discontinued DCM. The current retro crap with it's long neck joints sucks and ruins the double cut advantage.
Sometimes I asked myself, what these designers are smoking.
My dream Gretsch would be a double-cut Phoenix....
with a Chet arm, compton bridge, Maggie or T-armond neck & Powertron bridge p/u's
