Ooo, thats purrty
Wow, just wow man.
Super awesome lineup there!
Some great family photos here!
Yes. When it was issued in Dec. 2014, that G5622TLH SRF GRN (S/N° : KS14123885) was reputedly :
- the 1st Gretsch with 3 PUs
- the 1st Gretsch being issued in Surf Green (rather a Surf Turquoise than Green IMHO)
And to top this... Only a batch of 10 Lefties were built !
Indeed, it's not a value, but an oddity / rarity.
Since then, many other Gretsch models have been issued in Surf Green or very close colors : A G5420, A G5445 (think member Bertotti's), and probably others... So you'd be able to find one, rockinforJesus !
The G100 is not issued anymore. Mine is a 2008 IIRC. She was available in Natural and Sunburst. Now she's been replaced with the New-Yorker model G9555, which is Sunburst and available with or without Rhythm Chief DeArmond floating PU :
This is called a "Monkey on a Stick" pickup : an electric attachment available for adding a removable "floating" pickup on an archtop guitar. DeArmond made very popular ones in the 40-50's. These are now costy, but reissues exists (see Gretsch New-Yorker G9555 above) :
Of course, none of them existed in Lefty... So I had to built mine from a Japanese copy (Midland), and have the pickup unit rewound by Kent Armtrong in a nice sounding jazz humbucker.
great collection of left handed Gretschs! Love the variety of colors, not like some guitar companies where you can get a left handed guitar in any color as long as it is in black!
Yes. A beautiful family.
We have an original on a Hofner
Here's the main part of my family.
- 5420 vintage Orange
- Squire Tele Butterscotch
- Epiphone Emperor Joe Pass Blonde
All have been modified by myself.
The Tele side of the family... a couple of Fenders, and two James Trussart models.
Intriguing Tele collection! Wow!
I really like the Trussarts, especially the top left one. Is that a metal body also? What pickups do they use?
The top left-side Trussart is a wood body with a metal cap. I believe these got bare-knuckle single-coil pickups, but I might be wrong on that. The other is all metal, and I bought it used... not sure what those pu are.
Ive bought the jazzmaster and sold a couple of telecasters since my last post. I dont often have them all out at once.
Some great family shots! I've really enjoyed looking through this thread. Unfortunately, my "family" has already been packed away for the impending move next month. I only have 2 that have been left out for my enjoyment, so maybe once the move has been made, I will have a chance to participate.
Great thread, lots of wonderful pics.
As soon as we have a glimpse of sun -weather in Paris is currently terrible, seems like November-, I'll renew my family snapshot in order to have the streamliner with its new chrome knobs among the other ones. And I'll post here.
Man, that's a lot of bricks!
Here comes the family, with the slightly modded G2655T:
Roped another one ehh? LMAO
I’d need to get some new casting couches first.
I love that 5620
