I saw RL playing with The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion at Buddy Guys club about 20 years ago. The guy was amazing. The night was amazing. I ended up at the table with mr Burnside just talking and enjoying whiskeys. As long as i kept buying he was happy to keep talking and let me stay. I dont know why he struck me as a bit lonely, but he did.

Very cool. I imagine he would have a few stories to tell.

This thread reminds me of Jack Pearson- Allman Brothers, etc. His go to number one is a $99 Squier he bought in a pawn shop.

That’s exactly what Hound Dog Taylor (another one of those cats with 10 quids guitars in their hands) used to say about himself ;)

I have An Ass Pocket of Whisky, with The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. Great album.
But I'd never thought R.L. Burnside had been a young man. That video is really cool, thanks.

Great question! It is actually between the nut and 2nd fret. Appears to be some sort of (makeshift?) capo? Has that effect anyway. His open 6th string is definitely an F.
