....to be great.
RL is a house-hold name from around my part of the country. RIP blues maker.
He's playing a reliced Custom Shop guitar made to look like it's old and cheap. $10,000.
Seriously, great playing.
Right you are, even the great pre war blues was played on budget instruments, Stella's, Supertones, low end National's were the weapons of choice! Of course they aren't cheap anymore but if you can find them and fix them they do channel the funk. I'd be surprised if RL has more than $20.00 into that rig.
As soon as I saw the title of this thread, I'd thought of RL Burnside. I've long realized that a lot of great music was made on really cheap instruments.
As always, it's not the guitar, it's the player.
Close. It's a Kent Polaris. $10.
Some have the ability to make a cheap guitar sound top of the line. Me? My super power is making a top of the line guitar sound cheap.
Yur kill’n me here.......now that’s funny
I don’t care what a guitar cost, cheap or expensive, when ya get a rhythm like that going it is intoxicating.
Loved the vid.
R.L. Burnside , one of my all time favorites.
Wanna have some fun, try playing that rythmic tune of his,"Poor Black Mattie". Just getting that tempo down like he does will take you a while. I do it on a CBG
Imagine how unbelieveably good he could sound through a PRS Drangon Private Stock and a Kemper
Holy moly - I was just in a restaurant and they played this guy and I just Shazam'd him. I thought it was great stuff and decided to look for his music.
Now I open GT and find this!
That's some good stuff.....
Great gear is what great gear does.
Lol, same here
I've got $20,000 worth of gear and $40 worth of talent...maybe I need moar gear!!!
Wossat going on in between the nut and the first fret?
I don't need a great guitar---don't play well enough to warrant the expense. Don't gig anymore, so I've more than enough amp. Keyboard's another story.
Ten quid or ten fahsand, I still sound the same.
Nah, the PRS would suck all the life out of his playing. At least it'd look good though.
