Also called Ring risers. I can only find the transparent ones, but I’m using black PU bezels.
Different thicknesses would be most welcome too. I have to stack about 6 of’m.

Greasy Groove might carry them. Otherwise, you can try:
    1. spraypainting the TVJ shims, or
    2. scanning an existing shim and using it as a template to order some laser-cut black shims from ponoko.com. This would require a bit of know-how with graphic editing software like Inkscape or Illustrator. But as a bonus, Ponoko carries acrylic in different thicknesses. I've had Ponoko make pickguards for me and I'm very happy with them. (See my profile pic for an example.)

Thank you! Option 1 is out of the question, but I love the laser cutting idea. I was pretty comfortable with the old Illustrator CS but I don't think it runs on my new Macbook.

Inkscape runs on both PCs and Macs, and it's a free download. You should have no trouble with it if you've got experience with Illustrator.

Honestly, this has always bothered me about Gretsch
....for the kind of money we pay for a 6120 you would think that they would make a decent chrome metal trim instead of cheap plastic......GRRR!!
what would it cost them...an extra couple of bucks but it would make such a difference in appearance!

Back in the 50s plastic was seen as modern, cutting edge and of the future. Not sure when the plastic surrounds started.

I think Stefan uses laser cutting to make his intonatated bar bridges(?) It seems like a cool idea.
