Unfortunately, the second half of what I said is still true. $$$
oh yes i do
Love my 2008, 6120-1959 LTV...
I understand why!
Love the black....just like Jets, black Spectras are sexy as heck!
I have owned 3 of my dream Gretsches but no longer have them.....I am currently lusting for a Black Setzer HR
I've got mine! It's a 6196 Country Club - pure understated elegance...
In the sixties I played a Tennessean, which was beautiful but I didn't know how to set up. After a few years I used it as a trade-in on a Music Man. Flash forward 40 years and I reunite with my cousins, still playing, who chided me for having a solid body. By this time I, too, was getting nostalgic. So one practice I showed up with 6119 Tennesee Rose reissue. I had my choices and considered a Country Gent but my history was with a Tennessean. Is it perfect? No. but it filled in something I was missing.
The number of guitars that I want to have probably equals the number of guitars that I actually have in my possession at any given time, plus one. Having said that, I did recently acquire my holy grail, the White Falcon (put it on a pedestal when I was about ten years old, and I finally got it at 49). While it has met my ridiculously high expectations, being incredibly versatile, I still “need” different guitars for different styles of music. But she is definitely the one closest to my heart!
I have heard and read about folks who buy and sell stuff. Never worked for me. I buy stuff and end up giving it away. Can never find anyone who wants to buy. I have given away 7 guitars and presently have a 94 Olds convertible that has been for sale for 4 years. Gave away a '37 Kay Archtop, '59 Silvertone Archtop, '63 Fender Music Master 3/4, 2000 sigma DM2, 2008 Alvarez FR8, '65 Guild Starfire V, and a '66 Regal Flattop 3/4 - I sold the '67 Double Annie for $75 back in 1972 (needed money for Christmas) Sold a '94 Gibson Starburst EC20 for what I had in it. Traded a canoe for a Fender 12-string Flattop, traded in and out of a Guild 12-string Flattop, and have tried to sell a '94 Martin D-40 Limited Edition Marty Stuart and a 2000? Gibson Songbird EA. I have a Washburn D-28 that has too much history to give away, a '96 Gibson "Dove" '62 reissue that my wife picked out as "the only guitar in the shop that sounded better than the Washburn" and a 2017 Double Annie '67 reissue (50 years newer than my first one) I'm not sure it's as good as the '67 I had, but the older I get the more my memory fades. Folks at church really like what I can do on it.
I have the last 6120DC assembled by Doherty in Jan 1971 and a letter of authenticity from him before he passed away. They still had stock that Baldwin didn't want after the sale so they continued to build until the stock was exhausted.
Let’s see that 6228
I love those blonde top TVP’s and looked for one a while back. Any idea how many they made?
Luv my 6120ec but still yearn for a falcon
Hmm - thread full of Gretsch guitars that I would instantly take if I could (somethings wrong with me?!?).
Anyway, I have my dream Gretsch - White Falcon LTV, but I also have dream Gretsch, that I didn't know it exist (Country Gentleman). I thought White Falcon is the thing, but I have a lot of relatives and friends who are jealous about Country Gentleman.
I had a Falcon while I had my Gent. Still have the Gent. I know what you're saying.
Happy enough with my (2nd) Terada 6122 II though I would love a '60s orange 6120.
My (pretentious) update:
Still lovin’ this thing.
Wouldn’t trade it for any other.
This one ! Still looking......
I have had a 6120-1960 Nashville, an Eddie Cochran 6120EC, a 57RI 6128, a TA 5191, two Annies, a half dozen acoustics... 4 of those Americana western-themed parlors, Traveling Wilburies, Boat anchor righty double jet, a twelve fret recent little acoustic... I have had dreams with all of them. The dreams have highly exceeded the reality of my musicals and creativity. But the guitars, they all help, a lot.... with the dream...
Sigh.... Zzzzzzzz..... dreeeeaaaammmmmiiiinnnggg.... Huh?!.... Yeah, they're all leftys... Except for the double jet. The 125 Annie is the one I currently dream with....zzzzzzzzzzzz.....
Nice; I had an original '62 back in 1989. How about a picture?
