(I was in Madison when Butch and Duke's previous band Firetown was still going and I saw the very first Garbage show ever. Shirley said to the crowd, "I'll always remember you because you were my first!" Probably most of the guys in the audience swooned. )

The Beatles, and many other British Invasion groups, covered old Motown hits.
I have a pretty vast collection of Beatles covers, and this album happens to be among my favorites.

not a cover but a "remaster" Obla di Obla da... off the "Beatles" album (just happens to be white) I can't stand the new version... seems too pro-Paul. and I never heard the line "and if you want some fun, take o bla di bla da" on the remaster. critics say it's a better album than original... BAH!
I like this one too. She turns it into a cool punk song.

There was a French project named Nouvelle Vague which has made a few records of Bossa Nova covers of punk & new wave songs.
Some are really nice, but it ends being a boring formula.
