I thought you might enjoy these pics. The guitar has a bit of history; the owner is a mate of mine and used to tour the UK with a Buddy Holly tribute, Bootleg Buddy. It's got a little mojo, but it still plays really well, as my neighbours will attest to!

It was purchased privately in London in the late 70's for the princely sum of £350, and has paid for itself many times over, and now languishes in retirement. We found a sellers sticker under the backpad, but I couldn't find out much about the business.

You'll notice the signed scratchguard. Jerry Allison, Joe Maudlin, apparently one time members of a popular beat combo!

Plus the original case. The binding is still fine, and the action a little high but still very playable.

Too bad it can't talk. I bet it could tell some stories.

So is the back-pad black or green? Do you think the Bigsby is factory original or are there holes that might indicate another bridge was once on there?

This guitar is a survivor, and just oozes character!

The back pad is a pale green, with gold piping round the edge, which isn't too clear in the photo. I especially like the triple binding, not seen that before. The Bigsby seems factory fitted, I'll take a close look when I get the chance.

The tone of the guitar sounds not unlike my pre-Fender 6120, with ceramic Filtertrons, warm and rich, with the usual caveats regarding the mud switch. The standby switch is three-way, but only one position is "on".

The width of the neck is wider than anything else I've played, and the profile is a soft C, which felt nice, but the bare wood felt quite grippy. No shredder, this one! It's had at least two re-frets in living memory, and could do with another really, but she still plays well.

That seller's sticker is from my neck of the woods, Napa County in northern California...I'm in Lake County, just to the north of country.

    Nice axe!
