Im getting ready to order my pickups and cant decide. Going with a classic in the neck. Classic or plus in bridge. Have my harness partly made. Used ctaper bourns 500k on volumes, swithcraft switch, 1 mg bourns for master with treble bleed, 500k tone with 22 orange drop cap, and trutone jack. Think im set. Give me some pros and cons of the bridge pickup. Going in a new pro jet.
    Thanks

If you're going clean most of the time, the classic bridge works well. If you like overdrive, the classic plus has more grunt.

I have classic plus pickups in two guitars. I really like them.
To my ears it sounds more like a Gretsch HS Filtertron than a regular classic does.
After install it doesn’t hurt to bring it 1mm lower than TV Jones’ specs.

There’s not really a poor choice between the two. I would say this; if you want brilliant highs, stick with the Classic, but the Classic + has a wee bit more body. I’m a Supertron man, myself, which strikes me as a still bright, but somewhat more focused and articulate alternative to the Classic. If you’re looking to drive an amp hard, Powertrons still sound Gretsch-like, but have a lot of raw power. Then there are the Duo Trons which strike me as sounding a bit compressed, but not muzzled.

The classic+ is great in back of a classic.

Plus should sound better split if that is something you are interested in.

Hard for me to argue that. I like HS's, I like Classics, and I love RB's.

The stuff in my head that I've been chasing comes through with these pups.

    Yep.

I didn't think they fit in a Jet though.

Depending on your pup cavity, you may have to open it up to clear the base/tang that's on all RB's.

Pic of RB neck pup base. The bridge is the same.

Top view showing both RB's tangs.

I've been experimenting with pickup combinations lately and my current fave is a plus in the bridge and a classic bridge in the neck, it sounds really cool.
i know that lots favour the plus for over drive but i love the cleans it can deliver.
the classic bridge in the neck pos gives a big warm tone with exceptional clarity.

If you’re shooting for vintage tones, note they did not have calibrated PU sets back then.

I have a Telecaster Blacktop that I put a Classic in the neck and a Classic + in the bridge. Sounds great.
I just recently upgraded my G5420T with a TV Jones wiring harness, Classic + in the bridge and a Supertron in the neck.
Holy guacamole!!! This guitar absolutely came alive. I love it and could not be happier.
As the others have already said, Classic is good but if you want more oomph go +.
Can’t go wrong with either. I’m a TV Jones fan big time.

Here’s a demo I did after putting the TV Jones in my Tele.

What a fantastic upgrade that was! To my guitar! Not my playing! LOL:D
