Yep, i actually like these! Lemmy know if you got some to sell.
The Electromatic Corvette has Megatrons which I understand are ceramic Filters. I had a set in an Annie, and they turned it into a firebreather.
Just curious wildeman: are these for a hollowbody or a Jet?
I may be pulling a set of Blacktop Filters out of a Cabronita Tele soon; would these interest you?
Nah, thanx anyway. I'm lookin for pre FMIC Filters
Probably a Jet but no project yet, just gettin started. I have them in a pro jet and the back pickup of my 5120 right now.
Maybe another one of these.
I put TV Classics in my red one.
Well, it looks like I'm the only Keeper of The Holy (pre FMIC) Grail over here..
PM me. Maybe we could arrange something.
Just my 2 cents worth. My first ceramic filters were in my 6120N (2003). I didn't like them because they sounded harsh. Eventually changed to a TVJ Classic Plus/Classic combination. A little bit later I bought a doublecut Champagne Sparkle Jet with ceramic filters, fully prepared to change to TV Jones pickups, but decided to give them a go first. Holy moly, these pickups scythed through the mix like a hot knife through butter. One of my most respected guitar player friends says this guitar is his ultimate choice off all my Gretsch guitars becasue of the sound!
That's exactly the reason why I kept them even they've been removed from my Nashville since years.
One fine day they'll fit nice a Jet (hopefully)
I've never played blacktops, aren't they supposed to be close to the pre-FMIC filters?
That's my understanding.
Well they're AlNiCo for a start. Voiced quite differently in my opinion
The only newer ones I'm aware of are Mega'trons. Maybe TVJ has a ceramic option?
The ceramics got their own flavor, my first 6120 had them and they stuck.
If you’re still looking for a set send me a PM.
I just bought a 5120 advertised with tvj classics but when I got it home it wasn’t to be.
These are reading somewhere in the 7.5 kohm range and the magnet wasn’t conductive so I’m assuming it’s ceramic. Best I could tell they are older megatrons.
Anyway I just received the classic + and the supertron so these older filtertrons need a good home.
