anyone got a comparison on the new ones vs the old?...any difference?
I don't know which model you call "the old", nickinthewest... Maybe the ones that were on the first Gxxx series ?
About the BroadTrons that you find on the model G5220 Jet, I can tell that they are rather bright, powerful and Gretsch sounding. No PAF-like tone, rather some kind of "boosted" HS FT tone, if I can say so...
50 seconds in he states they are tweaked this year. I haven’t played one so I’m not sure if it’s noticeable.
yeah i meant the old broadtrons from the 2017 2018 streamliners compared to the 2019 ones as they are a newer one.
Here are the Broad'Trons - the ones that I spoke about - which comes from my G5220LH Jet, dated August 2018 :
These are made by BHK : Boo Heung Korea - along with BT FT, ARTEC branded pickups and many many others, if I am correct.
So different from what’s in my ‘17 2622T Streamliner?
Yes, the 2019’s are supposed to be tweaked for a little tighter bottom end. But if you’re happy with the 17’s, I’d leave as is.
Is that the Riff City Tangerine Sparkle in your photo?
Yes, indeed. But, I now have a natural Riff City Pro Jet.
I have a fairly new Club Jet and a New G5622 Streamliner with Broadtrons and I have no complaints with either one. Not even considering swapping them out. In some ways I like them better than the black face Filtertrons that are in my G5420.
Nice. It’s off topic but what shape and thickness is the neck? I was looking at a used one not long ago in a different state. The natural one looks great too.
I don’t have a measurement but it’s pretty much just your average, comfortable, C shape neck - maybe has just a little more girth.
yes i reckon the older broadtrons are a bit muddy on the base side...
