For so many reasons they're always a pain to come up with in my opinion.

The various names I've used over the years...

Uncle Joey and Big Petey (an acoustic duo from high school).

The Stoned Hillbillies (also high school).

The Walking Wounded (mid-90s, long before The Walking Dead).

    Suspended Disbelief

Now... well, the next band I put together will probably be more of a studio band since I'm more interested in recording than performing right now and I'd probably just use Winterwind.

I also really, really, really want to use Hot Karl & the Alabama Donkey Punchers. I wrote a comedic country song back in '06 called Your Laundry (The Ballad of Thursday Afternoon), did a demo and that's the name I stuck on it.

"The Perry Avenue Spare Change Band." Never got any spare change either, we were just a hobby band and always played at the bass player's house on Perry Ave because he was single, and had no spouse to bother. LOL

I really like Al Fresco and the Great Outdoors.

During the Sappy Seventies, a drummer friend proposed LuvLite for a Soft Rock band. Fortunately, I never worked under that name.

For the life of me, I can’t remember the name of my band from the late seventies, but if we were doing straight ahead Country we would call ourselves High Water, mainly because the drummer in that band had a sign with that name on it left over from a previous band.

My current band is Clutch Draggin’ & the Lug Nuts.

I always thought The Wharf Cats would be a cool name. In portland there are lots of feral cats that live down on the wharfs surviving on rats and fish guts.
Or The Cadaver Dogs. The dogs that find bodies.
Never used either. Prolly never will.

  14. Years ago we had a band that did Dead covers. Poorly. Called ourselves Jerry’s Kids. Got some slack for that. Some people thought we were mocking the Jerry Lewis charity , we weren’t. We played a gig once where very few locals showed up, but a bunch came in that were visiting from out of state to see Jerry’s Kids, a thrash metal band that was playing out of Massachusetts at the time we were. They were disappointed. One time the guy that made the band posters couldn’t come up with anything catchy, so he called us Yer Mom. Posters saying Yer Mom will be at the bar tonight , or come out and hang out with YerMom. It was a Joisey Kind of saying. Didn’t become Fingers until I met Mrs Fingers. Who wasn’t Mrs fingers at the time, but she coined the name. I have also bin a member of the Porch Pundents, which we use when we play under my wife’s name, and we throw together a handful of people to back us up.

I guess the weirdest was "Geschmacksverstärker", which translates to flavour enhancer. The pun is that the German word "Verstärker" means enhancer as well as amplifier. That was way back in school, when I was 16-17 years old. Another good one was "Queen Of Table Waters", that one being a slogan for, indeed, a brand of table water.
