Ever since I had to sell my Powerjet I've felt there's been an empty space that could only be filled by another Gretch. I've had a brief flirtation with a 5420 and a few bits from the Roots collection but they've not filled that hole.

    Today it has been though.

I'll do the proper deal with pics and words tomorrow but I was a little too excited about this one to not post something. So here's a little taster for now.....

Seriously??? Call yourselves a bunch of Gretsch lovers huh. You should know what it is from that little snippet and a lot of you know the guitar already anyway.

It's the superbly un-gretschy Gretsch, the Annie. A beautiful example of hollow bodied gorgeousness without the plastic breast enhancement and whitened teeth of its more noticed sisters. And the observent amongst you will notice it's in its old setting of Paul's (TheMarlin) house. I will take my own pics soon.

I really didn't see a proline in my future at all, let alone this but I've known and loved this particular guitar for years and when Paul said it was on the block, I had to do what was needed to get it. Which was sell off a few bits. To be precise.....

    Two Fender Teles
    One Gibson LP
    One Gretsch resonator
    One Squier Bass VI
    One Revelation 12 string
    And one Vox AC15c2

All in all, a very good move and couldn't be happier.

    Lovely guitars.
I love mine so I know exactly how you feel.
May you derive countless hours of pleasure from playing her.
Well done - Marlin's loss, your gain!

Actually, only courtesy of Paul again, I have. He had the Japanese one in the tan colour scheme when he got this one, so I was lucky enough to spend time with them together. It's actually a very different feeling and sounding guitar. This one feels far more lively and for whatever reason, is incredibly raunchy and powerful sounding, despite its 'girl next door' looks.

Well that's one method to make space...

Congrats, I seem to remember that was Paul's favourite Gretsch or guitar even. I see the Toneking has been replaced by a Gibson. :)

I think the Gibson has replaced whatever replaced the replacement for the Tone King. You know how it is ;)

Congrats Dazzajl. I love my Annie but a Stern-built must be wonderous.
So I'm guessing the pickups are hand wound and hotter than standard filters? What else differentiates this from the regular Twrada or FujiGendaki Annie's?

I wouldn't put words in his mouth of course but I think he was quite happy to see it go off to become a very worthy backup to my Duesenberg.
