I only discovered this version of "American Woman" by the "The Guess Who" just recently. Man, why Randy Bachman is not rated higher than he is as one of our greatest rock guitarists is beyond me. All our Canadian brothers and sisters here on the forum have much to be proud of from this native of Winnipeg. Burton Cummings too. This is a long version, but if you put on some headphones or earbuds and kick back and listen, Randy really cooks on this one. Especially during the second half. Such feeling in his playing, I love it.

What a coincidence I was working on American Woman the other night. I saw RB in concert last year. It was great. He told stories between songs about the genesis of each. (Some of his tales were a bit fudged, but fun nonetheless.)

These guys are two of many exceptional talents in our country. Unlike our Austraian friends, whose talent floodgates exploded in the 70s with such luminaries as Olivia Newton John, the BeeGees, Midnight Oil and Men at Work, Canada's talent pool has produced a slow but steady stream of exceptional musicians and singers from Neil Young and Lenny Breau to Shania Twain, Paul Pigat and Robbie Sharp.

Can't forget Paul Shaffer---arguably one of the best keyboard players out there. Lately, the Great White North has given us The Dead South (South Canada).

That concert was at the local baseball stadium, downtown. You can see the square Richardson Building in the background with JR on the top.

The concert gets pretty wild with a nice prairie lightning storm.

My mom & dad are in the crowd somewhere.

So many camera cuts in that video.
