This guitar has always made me smile.
A bit flashy for some and even I thought maybe too much - but - if I put a Bar bridge on it, to me, it is the coolest Gretsch:

When it comes to sparkle jets the answer is always yes...unless the question is "should I get rid of it." :)

IMO from all flake finishes, a silver flake is the least flakey to me... Does that help?

I've heard many say that sparkle finish guitars don't sound as good as they look. In my experience, that's usually true.

Yeah, something about the wrap deadening the sound I think.
I like the way they look when someone else is playing one but they're not for me.

The silver is my favorite though and I also like the slightly pinkish one -- 'champagne' maybe?

Yep. And, I'm a sucker for that champagne too. ;)

They stopped making the gold sparkle which I am drawn to for some strange reason.

I don't know I love the green sparkle. And this guitar sounded great with a classic, classic+ set and now it really sounds great with the setzers in it. IMG_1305.JPG

No love for the gold? It just makes we want it more. :)

I must confess I am definitely NOT man or woman enough for a sparkle guitar.

Silver Sparkle is probably the least flashy. This might depend on the lighting. Sparkle tops are slightly less resonant, but IMO not in a bad way. Red Sparkle is my favourite.

I agree. But my wife says I need more "color" in my clothing maybe she would not squawk if I did it in my guitars instead?

One of those was the first G I ever fell in love with. Never actually even got to see it in the flesh but it's still the one I'd want above all others.

Think this says it best...least flakey. I have one sparkle guitar (not a Gretsch) I don't play it often but I love having it...just because. Sounds great by the way.

I know for a fact that plastic wrap finishes, if applied correctly to drumshells, do not inhibit the sound of the drum at all. There have been numerous tests done over the years. I can't imagine they would have an effect on a guitar either.

I guess the biggest hurdle is having to sell a few things to purchase a Sparkle Jet.

That red is awesome. What model/year is that?

Edit; Nevermind, I think I answered my own question... G6129T RED SPARKLE JET 2015 LIMITED EDITION

Sparkly guitars make you play better. Or at least they make people think you're playing better. Not sure that's really true, but it sure makes them pay more attention to you on stage. So just to be safe I have 5 sparkly guitars, though unfortunately, none are Gretsches. I did once have a Silver Jet like the one shown above, and like Nick said, it sounded great with TVJs in it. The Dyna-equipped one I had was a tone monster as well.
