    Hi Everyone

I thought I would open up and share a bit of info about myself as it's good to be honest with people. From a very young age I didn't feel as though I was male and always assumed that I was a trans woman. A couple of years ago I went to the gender identity clinic here in Exeter and through work with their psychiatrist I have come to the determination that I am, in fact, non binary. This essentially means that I have no dominant markers that are either male or female and as such have been classified under the emergent third gender. In the west we have been very slow to acknowledge the third gender, but this has been a fact of life in some eastern cultures for centuries (usually become shamen, or magical beings in some way or another). The best way to describe it would be to use colour as an analogy; red and blue are colours in their own right and slap bang between them is purple, also a colour of it's own. The same holds for us non binary folks.

The accepted pronouns for us is They, Them and Their and our salutation is Mx.

Ever since this determination I have felt much more at peace with myself and know that it is correct.

I am on the receiving end of transphobic nonsense form all sorts of people, but that's their hang up and not mine.

Anyway as I say, I just thought I'd let you know a bit more about who I am.

    Morgan

    Red is still best!:D

Thanks for sharing with us Morgan; and on this forum, all that really matters is that we all share a love for Gretsch!;)

Life’s too short to be miserable!

I learned a few years ago that other people’s opinions about me are none of my business, just as their opinions about you are none of yours. Judgements made about other people’s lives mean very little in the grand scheme, because they aren’t you!

Whatever you gotta do to be content in this thresher we call life is a-okay with me!

    Congrats and be well!

Before the coming of Europeans, many native North American tribes recognized and accepted seven different genders. That always seemed very wise and very fair to me.

Welcome Morgan. I'm Native/NDN and traditionally there has been awareness of and reverence for the non-binary. Not always so much now, but it's there, never went away. I certainly support ya, and if anybody gives you any trouble, they got some knuckle sammiches and internet burns coming their way :)

Thanks for sharing Morgan, and as others have stated, that took courage. Now if we can only get @larryb to accept there are guitar colors other than red, the world will be a better place.:D

Thanks Morgan, as the others have said on this thread, we accept everyone here regardless of background, as long, of course, as they are Gretsch enthusiasts!

Every time I'm at my daughter's middle school I walk past this poster in the front lobby. I snapped a picture because it always makes me think that by the time a generation of kids have walked by signs like this and don't really think anything of it, I expect the amount of animus surrounding gender issues is going to shrink to just about nil.

Thank you all for your support and encouragement. This is truly the greatest forum where we are open to everyone from all walks of life. The Family Gretsch is a warm and wonderful place to be and I proud to be counted amongst the number.

Although @dak55 , let's not run before we can walk;). I also happen to agree with @larryb, red guitars just sound better, it's science or something, and you can quote me on that.
