    Hi folks,

Is anybody aware of any locking tuners that are a direct replacement for the standard Gretsch open back tuners on my 6120-DCH-LTD? I've never been a fan of the open back tuners and I would like the ease of locking tuners without having to drill any holes in my guitar... I really don't want to do anything that isn't reversible.

    Appreciate any help.

    Rob.

Not a locking tuner dude, but these seem so nice I might try. I hate adding weight to any headstock though.

Sperzel EZ mount lockers would also work. No screws, no drilling. Real easy install. You’d still see the old screw holes though.

You won’t have to drill the set screw holes with the EZ mounts but you will have to open up the tuning post holes if they are the smaller vintage size that normally comes with open backed tuners.

Are you having trouble with the stock tuners, or do you just feel the need for lockers?

    True.
A few twists on either side of each hole with a reamer will do the job.

I've never liked the open back tuners, I just think they look a bit messy... And I like the ease of locking tuners if I have to re-string in a hurry.

Locking tuners ........ should be added to my " pet peeve " list ....... Every guitar should come with a case , jack plate and locking tuners . Shoud be the 3 most standard things with a guitar

Absolutely! I get why my 6120 came with them as it's supposed be a 59 style and it's correct for the period, but I just hate open back tuners... Glad I have a way to replace them without doing any damage now :)

Sorry but I’m gonna call “shenanigans” on this one.

Locking tuners are in NO way a necessity for anything. Convenient, yes, but not a necessity.
Keep this up, and we might as well all just be playing Guitar Hero on the PlayStation... no need for a jack plate, locking tuners, OR a case...;)
