I've got a 6122-59, but want to add, (years later) a 6120. I played a 6120LTV last year at a Guitar Center and should have bought it. Called back to get it and it was gone. I'm playing mostly Chet stuff, I have a Mystery Brain too.

But John Standefur posted a link on the Gretsch site, playing a 6120 55GETC with the D'armonds. I have to admit the sound to my ear was just about perfect. It maybe makes more sense to aim for that guitar, since I already have the hum buckers in the Country Gentleman, is what I'm thinking. Is there a downside?

Also the 55GETC (and the updated 55 Vintage Select) has the medium jumbo frets which I prefer vs the vintage small on the LTV (and updated 59 Vintage Select).

If anyone has any words of wisdom, I'd like to hear them. No specific questions here, just wondering if anyone has gone down the same path. Thanks!

I’d like the difference between Filters and Dynas. Not much to add anything else really.

Myself, I've never been able to bond with Dynas.

Easy choice for me. The -59 VS

The right answer is ,you need both!;)

But a nice Dyna 6120 would be a cool alternative to the 6122.

Thanks for these responses. One difference is (vs the 6122-59) I hope to get a little more unplugged volume for quiet practicing or just grabbing the guitar,(with either 6120 choice)
