I'm thinking of single coil pickups for my 5445 Broadway Jet which has blacktop filter trons. Not that I dislike the blacktops, however, I have 3 other Gretsches with Blacktops and would like something a little different.
I would love to hear some thoughts on either Dynasonics, DeArmond Hilo-Tron pickups, etc.
    Thank you in advance

T-Armonds and De Armonds pretty much the same?

They look the same, and perform in similar ways. The T-Armonds are thicker in the mids, and don't have the same top end jangle as the Dynasonics. The balance between bridge and neck is better than the Dynas, and they pick up less hum. Neither will be a straight swap for Blacktops, but the T-Armonds are available in a Filter case. A few folk here have tried them with mixed results.

Have you thought about regular Filtertrons? Brighter, more snappy than Blacktops.

    Thanks for the input!
I was just thinking "single coil" because I have 3 other gretsches with filtertrons (blacktop) and thought it would be nice to have a different tone on a jet. I do have a tele as well
