The guy playing it is badass too.
Tone for years...
Holy crap, first few minutes were ok, then he cut loose... Apparently took lessons from a Mr Gatton...
I was just looking for tone examples for when i order my Esquire pickup and found this vid.......Yes, i think i should like mine to sound like this please!
Any ideas on specs yet? Alnico 3 I'm assuming. I read some of those Esquires were wound pretty hot.
I'm gonna order it from Don Mare, flat A3 poles around 8 or 9k ohms. I'm gonna have the stock mudswitch too but im gonna tweak the caps to make it more useful. I just got this nice Wilkenson bridge from Caleb so this is what i have so far.
I was thinking Gretsch orange but i might just do an amber tint clear.
The knotty pine looks cool.
That is gonna be cool. #42 or 43 Plain Enamel, no wax potting?
Yep, check out his site, he does some cool stuff.
...and he never mentioned what amp he was using.
Low powered Tweed Twin.
I can‘t stop recommending the Barfuss 1953 pickup:
Plain enamel wire AWG 42
ca. 7 kO
that‘s strictly wound like a 1953 original, compared side by side. Amazing sophisticated tone. A time machine!
What a glorious sound.
Who needs more than one pickup? Seriously.
OMGOSH!!!! The unicorn exists!!!....That is the most glorious thing I have ever heard....and possibly the most beautiful thing I have ever seen
This is a perfect example of why the Tele is "the one guitar to rule them all"
I had chills listening to that guitar sing
I watched this vid to get me pumped for my 52/53 Esquire tribute that I built and ended up giving to my late friend and fellow player. Lightweight ash body that was hell to grain fill. The lacquer sunk into the grain pretty fast, which was nice actually.
That looks killer!
I'd like to know which one because it sounded good to me. I was thinking tweed because it did have some of the character of my 5e3. It just sounded a little cleaner though.
Please educate me. What is a low powered Tweed Twin? Can a blackface be turned into one? Mine is very, very loud.
5E8 Tweed Twin. Still a big burly amp but know as the low power twin.
