    How do you say 5120?
    A. five one two oh
    B. fifty-one twenty
    C. five one-twenty
I wonder what is the official way (if there is one).

    I actually call my 5120 a:

    Five - One - Two - Oh

I was surprised when I heard someone call it a fifty-one twenty. I'm surprised that the posters here call it that.

They're just model/part numbers that were kind of necessary way back when before everything had a bar code.

    B. fifty-one twenty.

all my life I've always heard Gretsch models referred to in this manner. I'm 47.

    e.g.:

    "sixty-one twenty"
    "sixty-one twenty-eight"
    "sixty-one eighteen"

    etc.

Also, I think most Gretsch folks refer to Gibsons as

    "$#*!"

    or
    "&#@%!"

    :D

I wonder if anyone out there refers to it as the "five thousand, one hundred and twenty" :p

I think the reason we all automatically break the numbers down & say them like that probably stems from how we all usually say the year.. ie; "nineteen ninety", though that's changed lately.. it seems some people stuck with the format & still say "twenty ten" (mostly US) and others now revert to "two thousand and ten" (mostly UK/EU/AU) ...for the record, I say two thousand and ten.

fifty-one twenty for me too. 5-1-2-0 takes too long (plus you have to decide "zero" or "o")

    Guess I'm weird - I always say five 120, and 6 120.
Saying that I know a few other English Gretsch owners who say it like I do - maybe its an "across the pond" thing - you know like "pick-guard" and "scratch - plate" - although I am getting use to saying pick-guard :)
