I have SS, brass and aluminum. I like brass the best by far. It's very smooth and retains the highs nicely.

I prefer pencil lead or graphite at the nut for lubrication
Permatex "Copper Anti-Seize" lubricant works good for brass and copper bridges. "Nickel Anti-Seize" for Stainless steel, nickel or titanium....
