Default NAD, or Why I sold the Green Jet

Some folks have asked why I unloaded the Caddy Green Duo Jet so fast. I did it to buy this amp, a 1960 Electromatic Twin 6161 on eBay. It's in dead mint condition except for a little tarnish on the handle brackets and the transformer. It has fewer scratches than my PRRI which I bought new at the store. It's quieter without hiss or hum even at high volumes than the new Executive I had. I'm not sure where it's been for the last 52 years, except maybe in a closet since someone got it for birthday present and never ever used it.

I was so giddy when I unpacked it and first played it. I know I tend to gush when I get something new then sell it not long after but this one is a definite keeper. The pictures don't do it justice.

Wow. Just plain wow. I saw that on ebay and thought, "Someone very lucky is gonna grab that." Congrats, my friend. Do we get sound clips?
Did you sell the Jet yet?

WOW. My friend has one like that, but his has had a hard life. Speaker cones rotted, etc. Still a great sounding amp, though.

Maybe someday I'll get a chance to try it.

What a looker that is! Congratulations...even though it cost the Caddy. It sure looks like it sounds wonderful, as the saying might go.

I only keep guitars that I absolutely can not bring myself to sell. Obviously that was not the case with your Jet. So perhaps this was the right decision for you in this case.
An amp like that will not be for sale any old time you want one. You can always find another cool Jet.
