Default Vintage Gretsch glue....what was the glue they used?

Hi all, just a quick question. Did Gretsch use hide glue on their neck joints and when joining their bodies or something else?

I am not sure what they used but I have been a cabinetmaker for many years.
Hide glue is something that is used when cleanup is not really possible. Inside corners etc. or sometimes when fastening pre finished surfaces. Otherwise yellow carpenter's glue is best for wood surfaces. Some high end companies use hide glue for most everything, but it doesn't really hold any better.

Thankyou gentlemen. Doing my first reset as an experienced amateur and need to consider removal....heat and steam will be my weapon of choice. Just good to know what glue I am working against

if im not mistaken, hide glue can be easily removed with heat, if you need to do repairs, ect.

but i may be mistaken...

Hide glue comes off great with steam. Used to restore old German cameras the leather coverings were glued this way.

Thanks again all. Figured it was probably hide glue. Need to assess the need for a neck reset...get the bridge on first and check angles, the gap in the neck body join is all around the binding which has shrunk and on the bass side of the heal about half way up the body. There appears to be a neck screw thought the heal at the front but never removed.
