Do you think this 6122 is original?
Hi everybody
I need your help to identify if this country gentleman 6122 is all original from 1965, as seller claims..Probably I'll do a deal with him, but I'm not sure..
Do you think that price is a good price or too high?
Here is the link and photos:

Any help is welcome!

Though I've handled a fair number of 6122s, I'm certainly no expert. I can't see off the bat why this one should not be all original. I see plenty of worn off gold and that strap button looks pretty messed up. Could use some good ole TLC.
My 2 cents

I don't believe I've ever seen a signpost Chet Atkins pickguard on a Country Gentleman. The bridge is also not original.

The Gent looks legit, with the mods that Knavel points out. But that headstock plaque is NOT! Not only does it not look like the normal plaques, but that serial number has also been documented as a Tennessean.

OK folks, I'm going to contact with seller, and ask him about that.
Bridge is not original?

Wayne, where can I look about the serial number, to document serial as a Tennessean model?
Thanks

Sorry junk... that's from my own research. I've documented three Tenny's from the back half of the #689xx batch. The front half was Princess models. But the text on the headstock plaque is obviously not factory... I can send you many examples to compare against, but the fact that it uses the "No." before the serial number is not what Gretsch did.

I understand..
So unfortunately not all original 6122..false plaque serial nr, pickguard, and bridge..But why change serial plaque on headstock, if the guitar is really from 64-65?.. And all the 6122 pickguards of this year not chet atkins signature on it, ?
What's your opinion about the bridge?

No question the bridge is changed. I don't think the repro headstock plaque is an effort to deceive, or to make the vintage out to be any other than it is. I think it was missing on the guitar, and the dealer (or someone else) made one up to put on there to make the guitar more complete. They guessed at a serial number figuring that nobody really pays attention to that stuff. I'm sure it's a fine guitar. The black mute felts suggest it's an early 1966 example. Lots of these '64-'67 Gents come up for sale each year, so if this one isn't "the one", keep shopping.
Check out the style of headstock plaque on THIS Gent, and compare it back to one you're considering.
