Default 50's side dots, red plastic or tortoiseshell?

In the middle of a restoration of my 56 Duojet, and am wondering what is the correct type of side dot. I've got the red rods, and also the tortoiseshell side dots that were found on 50's Gibsons.

I believe that the red rods are correct but i'm not positive. Where did you find the red? I think I need to get some for my '59 tribute.
