Default Removing factory refinish to reveal original paint

I'm sure most of you are aware of that Baritone with the US flag on it i've been trying to sell.
It's a factory refinish (gretsch verified) over the original nitro black paint as far as i can tell.
Is there a known or recommended way i could remove this refin with little or no damage to the original finish?
I'm considering a month or two's worth of gentle sanding with fine paper or wire wool, but if there is another way please enlighten me

I am certain that all the people that have been drooling over that guitar, and cant afford it, would find money to fly over there and have you committed, if you in fact decide to go ahead with this insanity!

Bad idea. People are not buying it because of the paint, it is because of the price. That is still a ton of money and times are tough right now. Even if you did the best job possible, you will have detroyed the value of that guitar. It will not be worth 1/3 of your current asking price. Please forget this silliness and simply fly to the States to sell it

Thank you for your solid advice fella's
I get so much conflicting advice on price and I suppose I'm fed up of it just sitting around doing nothing as It's not a guitar I have much use for. I set the price with a view to haggling, and for a rare guitar in the Uk, take off the shipping and customs charges, if it were to be brought into the country, it would make the guitar around a grand.
But there isn't much call for flag guitars over here!!
Logic has always eluded me!
Once again, Thanks for the telling off

Keep this in mind - it's a rather rare and unique looking thing. People aren't looking for one every day. But when the right person comes along, it'll be impossible to separate them from that guitar.

Thanks Stevo,
Someone did come along on this very site and the trade was something a lot of folks would dream of, but at the time i couldn't afford the customs charges on the value of what i was importing. Screwed it up for me.
I think i'm just going through that phase when something doesn't sell, you imagine all sorts of reasons why, and really start to get annoyed by it's presence!
I should know there's no money around, it was a redundancy payout that enabled me to buy it in the first place!

I love the stars and stripes finish. I can't deal with the scale length. I like the 24.6 or less.

or if it was a 30" four string bass..........
