I have a newer electromatic and am thinking of an upgrade. Factory pickups sound weak and odd with some amps.

Have them in my Double Annie. They are great. A little pricey though.

I have Gretsch guitars with TV Jones Classics, Powertrons, and T-Armonds. They are all different, but I love them all.

You'll find a lot of love for TV Jones pickups around here.
I have Classics in one guitar and a classic and magnatron in another, plannin on getting a t'armond and a set of P90s later this year. TV makes superb pickups.

Hi ,I put off getting TV Jones Classics for my 5120 for a year and a half .When I did finally get them there is no looking back . They are with out a doubt the finest pickups you can buy for a Gretsch . I always every show have people ask how does that guitar sound so good . I tell them its a Gretsch and it has TV Jones pickups .Nuff said !

Tom's (aka TV Jones) pickups are (IMO) the best on this planet.

Had filtertrons in a 6122 and the tv jones classic in my hotrod. Even though they are different guitars, there is a difference in sound. My hotrod is very gretschy. Thats probably the best description from a non tech guy.

I was thinking of a supertron at the neck and a magnetron at the bridge for rockabilly and hard rock ability. Any thoughts?

I'd start with Classics in both positions. They're some versatile pickups.

And another vote for that. I put them in an Epiphone Riviera, and it became the best guitar I've ever owned. Got them on a Gretsch Black Phoenix, and the Epiphone became the second best guitar I've ever owned. They're pretty much perfect pickups.

My 6120 DC has a pair of TV Classic from the factory. I'm impressed. They are very responsive pickups with a bright, but not harsh, sound.

I got TVJ's Classic in the neck and Classic Plus in the bridge of my G5120 - I would describe them as somewhere between Imense and Brilliant. Imilliant would be the word but I don't think you'll find that in the dictionary.

They transformed my 5122 from a nice but quite dark sounding guitar into a tone monster, best pickups I've ever had.

I absolutely love the piano-like krrrang and sweet mids I get with my TV Jones Classic Plus compared to the stock pickups. It breaks up the amp in all the right places when I dig in. I can hear every note in every chord.
