Do this? Not the dobro part although that would be cool! But either the first or last third(s)
New to guitar and so I'm wondering about the ability of guitars to "cover" other guitar tones. To me this is pure telecaster - can any Gretsch cover it? If one could what would it be? Do I just need to eventually buy a tele to go with my ProJet?
If you want to try just watch the video on Youtube - in the description there is a link to both tab and the backing track - it's the "in the style of Troy Cook" ones.
If you are wondering about the song it is from - it is here. Really nice song.
As an aside I was at a local music store a couple weeks ago and a rep from Roland/Boss was there showing off products and talking about guitar emulation built into Fender Guitars - wild - how long before a Fender sounds like a Gretsch? Here is a link to an article describing it.
That's pure Tele and possibly some compression. Perhaps something with Dyna Sonics would be more twangy like this. But it's going to sound like a Gretsch with Dynas, not a Tele.
Sometimes when i'm messing around with the settings on my amp/pedals i'll play something and it will totally remind me of my old tele, but it's more of a kinda in the ballpark feeling than actually sounding like a tele. That's with my 5129 so i am playing thru single coils and some compression since i've been goin thru the Doug Seven lessons on chicken pickin and all those guys love their compression pedals.
But it still sounds like my Gretsch trying to copy a tele more than an actual tele. Should have never sold it

Did you sell it to get the Gretsch? Totally worth it if so.
Got the Gretsch as a Christmas gift from an ex so i sold the Tele to pay bills. Went to the pawn shop where i sold it a while after to see if they still had it, hoping to buy it back but they had gone out of business.
My white Corvette with hilo's (wound a little hotter by Bareknuckle) sounds most excellent, and has elements of that Tele twang, particularly at the bridge. It's a Gretsch Tele!
Gretsch should make a modern Corvette with Hilio's - they sound fantastic.

I would really like to hear what those TV Jones Tele pickups sound like. They make a normal bridge plate that fits the TV Jones pickups, so the only difference between that and a normal tele is the lack of a single coil pickup. I'll bet it has major twang and growl.
Also, there is a "Cabronita" Tele that has TV Jones pickups in it, but there's very little that's "true Tele" about it - the pickups are mounted without any surrounding metal plate. It sounds good, but it's really not a Tele - it's just a convenient/cool/retro body shape to use.

My Rutter Canronita tele (with Powertron) has more Les Paul Jr about it than tele. Love that thing, but it needs a Supertron to tame it.

I get some very bright Tele-like sounds out of my 6128-TCG. Dynas have plenty of spank. I also have a 6120 N and it's great for Country.

Yea, me too. He's a gimp, with his stoopid Corvette addiction....... I'm gonna find out where he lives and push cat poop through his letter box

I tried to... 6120 RHH HS filtertrons, bridge position, master vol down 20%, RC Electronic Delay at 80ms, vox pathfinder R ... recorded by my iphone......
Any guitar with single coil in the bridge, with some amp tweaking, and the right picking technique can get CLOSE to a tele sound.
But not quite.
Really only the Tele pickup on a plate, Fender scale length, bolt on neck, and maple fretboard can get the true tele spank. Also the trad Tele neck pickup has its own thing goin to. Im not really a fan of it, but its definately unique.
If you really want that sound, just get a Squier CV 50s Tele and be happy.
Compressors suck. We all strive for guitars, and pickups with that big Gretsch sound, and valve amps that give is the clean pick, and some dirt when you dig in. My Fender amp has such a HUGE sound, that I can play for hours, just ajusting the pick attack to perfect a note - it feels huge, like it can lift the roof off. Compressors rob all of that away, you might as well play a £50/$80 guitar through a first generation modeling amp. My Joyo Sweet Baby OD pedal is great, but on the border of acceptable compression, any more, and I'd have to sell it off. The EBG and D strings are barely affected, the A and low E are slightly reigned in. Not so good to Filtertrons, but perfect for Gretsch single coils. My hilo's need to be ajusted, they boom on the bass note, but this matters not a jot with the Sweet Baby. I think I paid £30 for this pedal, it's better than OD's I've spend five times more on. Any more compression that that though, is a crime.
Just my wordy opionion......other opinions may apply. Your statutary rights are not affected.

My question is : how this tele sound comes from , because if you listen to tele cable fender amp trio, these are not suffisant to get this country classic tele sound. For instence if you listen to other songs from lowa91 (the girl from Utube cover) there are few other songs with a raw tele in an amp, and the final result is far from this "hot water cover".
So what are the effects in the loop of country stars?
I think you can't get rid of a digital delay and a good compressor to shrink the signal and got the percussive effect that tele guitars have naturally but need to be underlined...
