Really been listening to Sigur Ros a lot recently, as well as a ton of classic blues stuff.
Unfortunately, with two kids and another on the way, going to shows has been less than rare.
Bit of a mixed bag and not much of it current — Justin Townes Earle, Pat Metheny, Marshall Crenshaw, Django Reinhardt, assorted '50s/'60s Blue Note stuff, Dion Dimucci.
I haven't really discovered many new bands I like in the last decade or so, we seem to be in a bit of a musical slump (unless the Bieber & Britney clones are your thing). Here's hoping things improve again this decade!
at the moment im listening to queens of the stoneage in particular the track "make it wit chu" its my song of the moment, and the black keys going to see the black keys in a few weeks cant wait!
I'll go off the board a bit. John Mayer, Arctic Monkeys, The Black Keys, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers in preparation for The Black Keys gig and a Chili's show (hopefully)
Great new music out there , just gotta look/listen for it.
Lots of new music I like, it's just that most of it was written by bands who are more than a decade old ...I do keep an ear out, but I've been slightly disappointed as of late - I'm open to suggestions though!
Rarely listen to new music, I'm afraid. I'm sure there's loads I'd like but I still have masses of music from the 30s, 40s, and 50s that I still want and need to listen to many times before I get more up to date. That said, I have bought recent albums by Evan Christopher, Gonzalo Bergara, Martin Taylor's latest with Alan Barnes, and Pat Donahue, all of which are superb!
Personally I like the fact that music is constantly changing. I rarely listen to anything more than a year old. Thats not to say that I dont like older stuff coz I do but my back catalogue is simply that & I dip into the odd album now & again. There is something about the energy of new bands that attracts me, like when I saw 'The Vaccines' last year. Awesome.

I've been going through yet another Pat Metheny binge recently. I've been listening to his music since 1979, and he always feels like visiting an old (very talented) friend! In addition to that, I've always got some of Zorn's Dreamers at the ready. Marc Ribot is one of my favorite guitarists, and he plays a Country Gent with the Dreamers. I really dig this band. Also, I've been listening to a good deal of Wilco. Nels and Tweedy make for a very good guitar combination. Throw in some Pat Sansone, and you've got a delicious recipe.

NeilSt, funny after what i've just posted I have rediscovered Wilco's 'Yankee Foxtrot Hotel' recently. The best album they've done IMO & for what its worth Jeff Tweedy is a fine songwriter.

I like mix of old and new and many, mant genres. The only thing I really don't like is modern RnB or general chart pop music...
Currently listening to latest Black Keys album (going to see them 10 Feb) as they cannot put a foot wrong! I am also into a guy called Hanni El Khatib who plays a fairly basic blues based music (think Black Keys/White Stripes but with his own style) and has been known to pack a mean Gretsch. Other stuff I have been listening recently are Turbowolf; Black Tusk; Steve Smyth; Vintage Trouble and the rereleased Alan Lomax recording of Fred McDowell.
There is still plenty of good new music out there but I am also finding plenty of vintage music (recently discovered Papa Charlie Jackson). As long as it is real music I will give it a go...
Going to see The Horrors on Sunday and try and get to as many gigs as I can but find my gig-mates have dwindled over the years...
