NPD - Some HB P90s for the Ibby Talman - CLips added
Although I liked the Ibanez Talman I just got, NGD Thread here , I wasn't happy that a previous owner had replaced the bridge stock Super 58 with a Duncan Invader. Not only did it look out of sorts, but for me, it was the wrong tone for this git.
I have PAF, hot PAF, 3 different flavors of the FIltertron tone, even one hot Filter/ric mix. Been missing that P90 tone. And P90 tone just seemed right for this Git.
So, I ordered a set of Tonerider Rebel 90s.
Just the tone I was looking for. I started late, and finished late. Still have a little dialing into do on the PUPs. So, hopefully clips tonight. But. all the clarity and growl when needed of the P90 tone. These are the 3rd maker of a HB sized P90 I have tried, and they get the nod as the best overall sounding of the 4 I've owned or tried (GFS, Dragonfire, now Tonerider, and have played SD Phat Cats).
Will sell off the Duncan Invader, keep the Super 58 (want to find another and maybe put her back stock).
Cleaned the fretboard, polished the frets and did a setup while I had strings off/replaced.
Clips
Fairly upset with my playing. Realize I haven't really played more than 5 mins, twice, in 2 weeks cause of my inflamed nerves/tendons. But egads.
I also realized AFTER, didn't really record me really digging in and hearing them growl up nicely. Shame, cause they REALLY excel at that. Maybe tommorrow.
All are Neck, then both, then Bridge. Recorded with SM57 into Reaper. Clips for 3 different amps
Egnater Tweaker with Celestion G12H-30
deLisle 15P with Celestion G12H-30
Peavey C30 with WGS Reaper
deLise and Egnater used a TCE HOF Reverb on Cleans. Peavey the built-in verb.
Did one Egnater clean with Dyno Brain pedal.
Did all 3 amps with Jeckyl and Hyde

Now you got me thinking... I have a Talman like that; love the neck, but not the pickups, so much... hmmm.

#1. Don't ever feel bad about your playing. Music, like people, comes in all shapes and sizes.
#2. Those sound awesome! A real nice old school Harmony / Silvertone vibe. You can really hear the nuance of the strings and attack. Love it.
#3. The clips gave me glimpses of Movietone's "Chance is Her Opera" both in the tone and the chords. I think the song is like 1 or 2 chords the whole time.
#4. I love Talmans. I was in college when they were in shops and had 0 dollars for anything so always just drooled from afar. I wanted a sparkly one. Yours is pretty.

+1 (Now that I've heard Movietone's, "Chance is Her Opera)

Thank you Sir.
Just I get a little frustrated at times. Been a year and a 1/4 since I decided to learn guitar for the first time, and back into music again after too many decades. Progess is not where I'd like to be. Some of what's in my head, makes it to my hands then through the guitar, but a lot doesn't
On #2 Thats what I liked about them, specially in a thinner solid body like this and was exactly where was aiming for with this guitar.
On #3. Your right. LOL, first I ever heard of Movietone, but, there is a LOT of 80s and 90s Alternative rock running around in my head.
On #4. Had a nice practice session after posting in the other thread, and was on the Talmon. Really feels nice and comfy, and the neck is very very nice. With thses pups it's got a great, vintage, clear tone of it's own. Made for a great quick hour. Really happy with this guitar.

They sound great Cyber. And your playing was fine and you demonstrated the pickups very well. Thanks.
