TV Classic sound demo video
Hi Guys,
As some of you know I just recently upgraded the original ceramic filtertrons to TV Classics and I just made this sound demo video.

Nice video Thanks for sharing, what are your personal opinions on the TVJs vs the ceramics?

TVs are way better... far less feedback, nicer definition especially on low strings, more bass, more vintage but sharp and crispy sound, and I don't know, how to phrase it... simply just a higher level of the Gretsch sound. Higher quality Gretsch sound. We are practicing in this rehearsal studio for years now (where the video was made), so not just me, but all two of my band members were amazed with the better sound. I had a show last Friday in Budapest in a famous venue we performed 5-6 times in the last two years and the sound was amazing. No feedback, powerful Gretsch sound, attacked and ruled the whole music.

Guess I'm gonna have to get me some then! Are there any attributes of the Ceramics that you miss? I have ceramics at the moment, and the feedback due to the lack of wax potting is really getting annoying

Been waiting for this! Sounds great! Looking forward to your reply to Dan C's question. Thanks for posting all of this. It's very helpful. I may be in the market for some new pickups...

To be honest, there is nothing missing. I don't miss the ceramics at all. Someone told me that the ceramics are more sensitive, but I just found that the only thing you have to do is to add a little gain and treble, and at the and if the day you will get the ceramic attributes plus more definiton, power, bass, middle and amazing vintage touch for the contempirary sound. I will have my worn down ceramics framed and displayed in the wall, because they were a major part of my life.

There is an other video someone made at a soundcheck a week ago. It was the first time when I heard my pickups on stage (It was taken 3 day after the studio recording on the first video).
Sorry, I am unshaved and I look messy, but this is just the soundcheck ) I looked different on the show at night

Sweet Pete, I love your demo . . . I recently added Classics to my 3161. I haven't really had time to even work with them since I'm visiting my brother in Savannah Georgia, USA for the month of July. I brought my Strat because I was to chicken to fly with my Gretsch. I can't wait to get home and start putting those Classics to work.

It took me 3 weeks to try them out finally because you realy need volume and my apartment is in downown. So finaly I rented a room in a rehearsal studio complex where we usually practise.

You were absolutely right about the proper height adjustment of pickup body. The only thing I did differently to raise a low part of the bridge a bit more, because I love the little bridge dominance in middle position. Not very much, just a bit! Thanks for the great great advice!!! (And I adjusted the pole screws for days
