Default GFS Eddie Cochran style setup

I am building my first arch top guitar and at the point of buying pickups. I recently switched from a humbucker to a P90 in my Gibson arch top and I am very happy. That got me thinking of the Eddie Cochran setup. My question is, has anyone here ever tried the GFS P90 in the neck with a Surf90 in the bridge? I have never played GFS stuff, but the price and reviews are right for this project. Any input is appreciated. The build is a es-335 style arch top with a B3 Bigsby. All gold hardware except the black dogear P90.

The GFS P90 is a very nice pickup. I have a pair in my Junior Jet II and I'm very pleased with them. I have Gibson, Duncan and handwound P90's to compare them to and while I wouldn't say there were better than the aforementioned, they hold their own. I also have a pair of Surf 90's and they're pretty good. Very clean, like a HiLo more than a Filtertron. The Filter'tron is a better pickup in my opinion and can be had for only a little more than the Surf 90. As well Anakin, I can get you to a handwound P90 that you'll love for only a bit more than a GFS. That said though, the GFS stuff is good and a great value.

Thanks for the input Tony. At this point I am really experimenting. I have never built my own guitar nor tried the Surf 90s. I do love Filtertrons, but I already have a guitar with those as well as one with TV Classics. I was very impressed with the Gibson P90 so if the GFS holds its own I will probably be very happy. I think unless I hear this is a bad combination by someone I will probably build with this setup. I could always step up to better pickups later. Or if the build goes well, build another later. This one is from a kit, but I am itching to build from scratch someday. Thanks again for your thoughts.
