Default TV jones classic plus, not 'kickin'

Hello,

I have recently fitted some tv jones pick ups to my 1967 double anniversary,
I have put a supertron into the neck and a classic plus in the bridge position.
My problem is this; The supertron in the neck sounds great with loads of output, but the classic plus in the bridge position is quieter and a bit "thin".
This is strange because the supertron is quite low compared to the classic plus.
could this be a phase issue?

Any ideas ?

Many thanks
Brodie

Might be. How does it sound with both pups engaged? When I put the 2nd TVJ Classic in my LP recently, had very low output on the newly installed neck, and a definate out of phase tone in the middle. Went back and looked, and the previous owner installed the Bridge TVJ classic with the leads reversed (according to wiring diagram I got from TVJ). Swirched leads on pup I just installed, all better.

Thanks for that,
I don't really know a lot about the phase thing, could just one pickup be out of phase?
when they are both on I can mostly hear the neck.

Cheers

Do some googles on out of phase mods, watch some videos. It's easier to hear it than explain it. They would both be out of phase of each other and makes a unique tone when in a middle position.

But one pup being just very low output can also be a bad ground solder point on that pup.

1. Check some vids on what out f phase sounds like
2. Try reversing the leads on you bridge. If your good, voila, if you NOW have OOP tone in the middle, then you had a bad solder before.
3, If bad solder found to be reason in #2, then reverse leads and resolder again.

Also possible a pot for the bridge, got fried to some degree as well.

Did you say the neck alone position is low output? You would only hear the out-of-phase thing if both were engaged.

Bridge pickups seem to be lower anyhow, I think it's because of the smaller vibration envelop compared to the neck position. I really notice it on my Gretsch a lot and I'm currently all stock - Filtertrons with stock position.

TV Jones website sais: "Note: If one pickup is out of phase with another pickup, reverse the black and white wires (the shield should still be connected to ground)."

@stevo- the bridge pickup seems to be low in output,
I assumed that the bridge pick up would be louder but maybe they are okay... I guess I just expected more "whoomph" from the classic plus !
