Default Peter Green Mod on Stock Pro Jet Pickups

Hi,
I just bought a used 2005 Gretsch Pro Jet (Black/Bigsby). While waiting for UPS, I went on a number of sites and read reviews of the guitar. The Majority of the people said Good Guitar, but Change the Pickups. ........I received the guitar, and for the styles I play, Rockabilly/ AC/DC, I thought the pickups were Pretty Good.
I had previously had an Epiphone Hollowbody Les Paul, and that was too Trebley no matter what I did. I had tried to do the Peter Green Mod, ( Push the Magnet out of the Neck HumBucker, and turn it Long ways around, put it back in.) but the Epiphone Pickups were sealed with some kind of Plasticy Material, and I gave up.

I just did this mod to the Pro Jet, and even though you should have two volume knobs to Really Dial in "That Sound", it worked pretty well.
I would recommend trying this before you buy New $70-$200 replacement pickups from the various companies that have a Gretsch selection.
The Mod Is not that Difficult, and could save you some $$$.
If you are unfamiliar with the "peter Green Mod", Google or Youtube it.

Brett, that is a great tip, thanks. I have been fairly happy with mine so far but this might be worthwhile.

Am I missing something here? I'm pretty sure a phase switch would do the same thing for you, and you can instantly change from one to the other.

I've been using this circuit on both of my Yamaha SBG1000 2-humbucker guitars since the mid-80s. With judicious balancing of the volume and tone controls, you can get sounds ranging from a slightly edgy 'zing', to something that sounds a lot like full-on flanging.

Default Yes, you missed the Boat

I'm talking about loosening the screws on a pickup, and sliding out the magnet (easy to moderate guitar repair) . YOU are talking about de-soldering wires, drilling holes, and installing switches (advanced guitar repair, NON-reversible).
Besides, Wiring Phase, and Magnetic Phase are apples and oranges.
Good Day I Say!!

Swapping out one of the pots for one with a push-pull switch and connecting the pickup leads to it is both easy and reversible. And it provides instant control of the phase, making that change reversible.

Enjoy your day.

I'm not sure this mod would be all that effective on a guitar with one volume control for both pickups but to each his own, I guess. I might be more inclined to dump the tone pot in favor of a second volume if I was really going for the Peter Green vibe and was keeping it permanent.

or you could just put a miniature "lazy susan" (no offense to Susan's anywhere) under the pickup. then you could just "flip" it over instead of turning a switch.
