Default To Magnatron or not to Magnatron? That is MY question.

So I'm absolutely smitten with my 6120RHH. It's just that I miss having the bassy twang of the neck DeArmond 2000 in my 5129.

After scouring the GDP and YouTube I'm pretty sure a Magnatron in the neck would be my best bet if I'm not looking to do any major surgery to my baby.

The sound samples I've found sound great but I wish that I could hear some low E bending. Like Rebel Rouser style.

Anyone with a neck Magnatron have the ability to record something like that?

Or anyone know that the Magnatron will get me in the ballpark of a Dyna ala Duane Eddy?

I think that's a pretty decent idea you have there. I'd say go for it, report your findings and become a minor hero on the board.

If you like the DeArmond, I think you'll love TV's pickup. Very sweet sounding in my guitar.

I replaced the HiLo Trons in my Tennessean with Magnas. I think they give you the HT chime with a little more heat. I'm not sure I would look for a Dyna sound with them, although they are a great pickup in their own right. Why not just get a Gretsch Dyna for the neck? They'd be a little cheaper than TVs and the higher output would probably be a better match for the RHH. The Magna is still a pretty low output PU. Or wait for TV's version of the Dyna.

Go in the sounds of Gretsch section and look for some of Wenzels early on recordings. He had a Maggie in the neck of that Country Club.

I have a set of Magnatros - very good pickups - but I would say you'd be better with a dyna for that Rebel Rouser twang!

A Dyna won't fit in a Filtertron hole...the hole will be too big and there will be space on either side.
