Boss Roland Space Echo Pedal
Hi all
I was round my buddys house last night and he showed me his latest piece of GAS relief, a Dual Pedal Boss Roland Space Echo. I have to say, I was completely blown away with what you can do with it. I particularly liked the fact that its a combined reverb and delay pedal. I still haven't decided on a reverb or delay pedal yet. I think the Boss Space Echo is quite expensive, not that my buddy would admit how much he paid for it!
Any of you guys got one, if so what do you think of them?
Cheers - Gazzer

I've heard great things about them from a few different people, but never had a chance to play with one - FWIW they seem to retail for $249 USD.

They're excellent pedals. I have two of 'em. They're COSM equipped, which means simply they use digital modeling(check Boss' website for particulars) and they're an excellent facsimile to the old RE-201 tape delay unit. Plus they're easier to transport and not as fragile as an RE-201.
IMO they sound great through any amp. I'm currently using a Mesa Boogie, but I was using Victorias and prior to that Fenders, and the RE-20 can put out a great sound through any of 'em. The delays are nice and warm, very analogesque...very easy on the ears.
I used one for quite awhile in my setup. I had mode 1 set for a nice short delay for uptempo songs, then mode 2 was set for longer delays...works great. However I'm no longer using it onstage because I'm currently using a smaller pedalboard using only compact pedals.
They retail for $249, but I've seen new ones on ebay going for as low as 175 bucks. And you might be able to find a decent used one for less.
I highly recommend the RE-20.

Thanks for that glowing reference Scott.
I must admit, I was mightly impressed with it. Glad to get a good report from a Gretsch player. It's a fair size unit though.
Im using a Blackstar HT5 5W valve amp at the moment and am going to try my buddys RE-20 through it. If it soundS half as good as through his AC15, then I know what I will be ordering to satisfy my GAS!

I found one on the bay in '07 for $200.It was just like new with a power adapter and that was the best deal I could seem to find at that time.I was replacing my DD-3 and was a bit worried that the RE-20 would not be worth the money/hassle,but I have no regret. The RE-20 works wonderfully with my Blues Jr. and even with an endless amount of sounds it's not complicated.

If you want more flexibility take a look at the Giga Delay DD20. It has some of the RE-20 algorithms along with other delay effects and tap tempo and it is onlt $219.00 new.
