Pedals for beginner
I'm planning to get my first gretsch pro jet soon, and as a starter i have a few pedals in mind to get:
- Boss TU-2
- Boss DD-5
- Joyride (Divided by 13)
- Paul Cochrane Timmy Overdrive
- T-rex Mud Honey Overdrive
Quite a few drive pedals and I dont know which one to get. These pedals are quite hard to find in my country so plan to purchase from overseas. Any websites where i can get 2nd hand ones?

You can buy used Boss pedals all day long at Ishibashi Japan. They might even have some T-rex pedals. Good thing you live close by, so shipping shouldn't be that expensive.

One to add to your list for the future, a Looper pedal (e.g. Boss RC-3). Probably the best type of solo practice pedal out there, helps you improve on technique, intricate parts and lets you be really creative with harmonies and polyphonic melodies
You have got a good selection on your 1st post though so start with those, Enjoy em!

thanks Dan. been trying to look for a second hand joyride and timmy on ebay but it's either way out of budget or doesn't ship to my country. i'll probably settle with a mudhoney, dd5 and hall of fame, with a vox pathfinder 15R(heard a lot of good reviews about this amp) and a G5235T pro jet. Sounds too ambitious for a beginner??

I would hold off on buying pedals (except tuner) until you have had your guitar and amp for a little bit. Get to know what that sounds like and what you WANT to sound like, that makes it easier to choose pedals. The Vox Pathfinder 15R already has reverb, you may like it enough that you won't need the HoF.
You didn't mention what type of music you play and what applications you need the pedals for. Do you want to use a drive pedal just for solos or as an "always on" pedal for a little rhythm grit? Do you want to use the delay for slap-back or long ambient trails?

i think i'm more of a rhythm player now, so drive pedal will be more on "always on" for rhythm and riffing.. delay i guess for long ambient trails.
Just bought myself a vox pathfinder 15R. gonna get my gretsch soon..

So what pedals do you folks recommend for a strummer, not lead guitarist. Is the TC overkill. Am I best just staying with my amps reverb and the chorus pedal I bought?

Nocturne Atomic Brain.
Leave the Normal mode on all the time. The Abby mode is there to kick things up a notch when you do get a chance to step out.

If you're a beginner, forget all those fancy pedals. Get on eBay, look up Joyo, and get buying.
Joyo do some great overdrives (vintage OD, Sweet Honey, ultimate drive), a great tremolo, some fab digital and analogue delays, plus loads more.
The only expensive pedal you need right now is the Atomic Brain. It's a genuine talent booster!!!

Well I really don't now pedals, I have only a chorus, have reverb and trem on the amp. Maybe I don't need anything else, it is just for me to have fun with...
