Recommended Reverb Unit?
Along with looking for the right echo (El Capistan is the front runner), I am also looking at reverb units. Now, that can mean pedals or the large, stand-alone tube units.
I don't tend to use high amounts of reverb. No surf washes really. Generally just enough to wet a tone.
Like in the echo thread, I am willing to compromise minor differences in tone to side step any issues with a more old school unit. Like I'd take 99% to not have to deal with 99% of the problems.
I have no experience with the tube reverb units. I am sure they are exactly the sort of tone I am after. From looking at schematics, there doesn't seem to be much that can go wrong. Any issues?
Any alternatives like the El Capistan is to the tape echo machines?
Again, think old school. Mid 40's through mid 50's.
Thanks!

hi i have tried different pedals like the danelectro springking and boss frv-1
but was not quite happy with the tone so i bought a gomez G-spring tank
and this is awesome reverb and i have been kicking it and done some gigging and it has never failed me. there is also the texotica reverb tank that i have
heard good things about.!! i`ll post some youtube links on those...
btw as to pedals i liked the spring king the most for suttle reverb but for surf wetness the frv-1 was best

Definitely dug the second video where he rolls the tone off.
Gomez has closed shop. Real shame.
Any word on the Strymon Blue Sky?

Very cool.
Anyone hear the EHX Holy Grail? Supposed to be incredible. I never had an opportunity to use one though.
Looking for a good pairing with the El Capistan into the Dr. Z Route 66+Z-Best rig.

Squirrel. the reverb in the El Capistan sounds so dead close to my RE301s reverb tank (minus the strange spring clank).. but the strymon FLINT is coming out and daYAM its verb and its trems are killer

I was looking at that. Does subtle reverb well and not just the splashy surf-verb?

Squirrel did you go to the website I linked.. there is a full video showing the engine of the reverb. It's got some amazing sounds but mind you its focus is emulation of mechanical reverb units. They make a dedicated uber studio reverb called the Sky Blue... This flynt is much cooler to me. I sell the EH holy grail stuff and its okay, I've had both the Malekko
Spring Chicken and Chiclet. They are cool and have a unique reverb meets echo since they use the PT2399 lo res digi delay chip but its just not enough for me and its not true bypass nor a nice enough fet bypass if I compared it to the Boss RV-2 and 3 I've had. very cheap price wise are the digitech digi-verbs and the spring is uncanny.
YET.. the strymon still moves the technology forward.. amazing how real it sounds.

I did but only just now watched that video and others on YouTube. Although I don't use trem much, I'll snag the El Capistan and the Flint after the first of the year. I do use trem a little and the reverb is a plus. Now I just need a boost for leads!

Since you're already on the trail of Strymon, why not check out the Blue Sky reverb? I know I want one!

Thanks for the help guys! I believe I am gonna give the Flint a go after I get the Route 66. Well, let me preface that, I am gonna get the El Capistan first because I will honestly use that a lot more. Then the Flint. Then I am gonna look for a good boost for leads.

Many of my amps have no reverb so I bought a Vanamps reverbamate and mounted it right on my pedalboard so I have it ready when I need it. It is spring driven but solid state so the box isn't too big. I like it and am picky when it comes to reverb devices.

FYI - the Hardwire Reverb is pretty darn good for the money - lot's of good options to choose from and it's advertised as using Lexicon reverb algorithms. I own it and never wished I had another. I've always been interested in the Neunaber Wet Reverb as mentioned earlier. I'd love to hear others' opinions of it. The older versions supposedly had good battery life, but now it looks like Mr. Neunaber is conceding otherwise.
I've never found a reverb that has good battery life. Go figure when my Keeley compressor can run on battery for a long time.
But that Flint is really interesting...

TV - Thanks for highlighting this beast! I can kill two pedals with one stone - love the harmonic tremolo. I already have tube trem on both my amps, but that harmonic sounds so much like a vibe, I think I'm wanting this pedal. And the reverbs are available on the first layer which is great.
