Analogman King Of Tone?
My dad just got one of these and he claims that it is the mother of all distortion pedals. He told me that Buddy Miller uses it and that it is a highly sought after.
Anyone have one? And is my dad full of "it"?

Ahem. If you are looking for people around here to help you show up your father, you are probably looking in the wrong place.
But as I haven't played through this pedal, all I can say is that I think there are few "ultimate" pedals of any kind. I'd recommend trying your father's and see what you think. Some fathers actually know some stuff. Some anyway...

That pedal can't be any good.
It doesn't have a mojo knob or talent button.
Feh!

Works best when you are playing loud. Even better with Fender amps. It's rated as very transparent pedal that does not offer a lot of gain but cuts right through the mix with the on the verge of break up amplifier. Lots of fans. I like it too. I just with he had a one Chanel pedal. That said, I've been on a wait list since Jan. '09. My name should come up in a month or two. Will definitely get mine when it does.

I had one for a bit. It was a very nice pedal and very well built, but didn't really fit my style. On some rigs i have heard though they are absolutely amazing though, so as always it depends on your setup.
If you have access to one though I would definitely give it a try. They are highly sought after and command a huge price on the used market due to the waiting list.

I was searching for "the" pedal for my super reverb, I had a lot of people tell me the original Bluesbreaker pedal is the cats meow with a Super. The originals were going for like $300. and I thought that was rediculous. I read many many posts saying that the KOT was a blues breaker circuit with some minor mods complimented by a good boost. Since both were out of my price range, I found that the CMATMODS Butah was also a Blues breaker clone. I bought one and love the pedal with the Super. Maybe that helps, maybe it doesnt. I never spent the $300 plus on a KOT, so I cant really compare. Maybe someone can confirm that???

keeley proco (made in Michigan) Rat mod
best distortion, plus it can be a straight boost pedal (no effect on tone)

Possibly. If he's found the right pedal for his ears, then fair enough. If he thinks he's found the right pedal for everyone's ears then he is so full of it he should be looking for a job in fertilizer production.
Analogman does make some fine stuff but there is nothing in the guitar world quite as subjective as an overdrive.

I still haven't tried the KOT but I have tried a boss tremolo that was modded out by the Analogman guy, and it sounds amazing
I'm getting my Nailhead soon, it will be cool to compare them
And yeah, the Ubangi freakin rocks.

I really like it- for me the neck tones are the hardest to get on a wailing amp and this pedal really gets them well. But- I had it right next to a Box Of Rock on my board and many times it was hard to tell the difference at lower volumes. The BoR is a bit more 'full in the center' maybe.
This all gets filed under my recently liking lower gain everything for better sounds- the KoT sounds more open to me, and the ratios of the dials make sense. That's my technical answer.
