back off guys and gals. if you read the questions asked on the listing , he clearly realizes his faults, Are you saying that non of ya's have put boat varnish on your high end acoustics? I do it at least once a year, keeps it shiny!

What do we reckon the procedure would be for removing the horrendous varnish to a stage where I could apply a finish? What finish would I need?
I couldn't play it on account of it being left handed but as long as I could make enough profit through selling I to make it worth while... Just maybe
No, no mean feat at all, but still..
As for removing varnish:
Finally, turning a profit? unlikely, it'll still be a refinished guitar when all is said & done.. you could do a unique finish (a odd-coloured stain perhaps?) that may help things along..

Oh I do realise that he knows he messed up but, he must have made no attempt to research the task and what could go wrong! Still saving for my high end acoustic so no boat polish for me just yet

Might be good experience then, I'm sure someone I know would like it, and thinking about it profit is way out there... oops! oh well, would be good practice!
Not so confident on refinishing it to start with though!

Oh man. That's pretty bad. It is luckily still structurally intact. Nothing made me more mad than this. WTF dood? The guitar made it this far in life but then met this guy (hide your kids, hide your wife, hide your husband because they rapin' Gretsches up in here):
On one hand you should be able to do whatever you want to your guitar but on the other hand, it seems like there are plenty more 60's Gretsches with 2 pickups and this could maintain its integrity for someone else. Hurts brain.

He's also kind of know it all by saying "Gretsch had a problem."

Ya. If you are making that many changes to a guitar, it's probably not the guitar for you. The single pickup caddy green anniversary w/ no Bigsby is like the most minimal and perfect Gretsch ever. One less in the world now.
