Epiphone Strikes Back!
With the news about the new G5420 and G5422 being leaked along woth photos, Gibson/Epihone have countered with their band new Black Royale range! They have taken their inspiration directly from the Gretsch Silver Falcon and Gretsch Brian Setzer Phoenix. Apart from the black paint, chrome hardware and silver sparkle binding, the new Epiphone Emperor Swingster Royale now sports a silver painted plexi pickguard! Sound familiar? It's also the first time the Swingster has received a stock pickguard since their introduction to counter the highly successful G5120 series. This will now put the Swingster Royale on par with the G5120 while Gretsch/FMIC discontinue that model and bring in the G5420. Here's a peek at the new Black Swingster Royale and the collection:

Nice guitars at a very reasonable price.
For some reason I just can't stand those pick guards with the Epiphone 'E' pressed into them. They look really cheap to me; I'd be swapping it for a plain alternative.

Just wait a couple of weeks and the 'E' will fall off all by itself.

I dig it.
I expect it not to be well loved on a opposing web forum, but they really aren't bad guitars.

Nice looking guitars but I'm sticking with Gretsch; easier to spell.

Just to play devils advocate, you could say all current gretsch's are copies of something no longer available. Going back in history, you could also say all gretsch's are fake epiphones. Who were in this market first.

i think epiphone is taking things too far with the gretsch asthetics. it's just making people think the swingster is a gretsch copy, which it is absolutely not. it doesn't feel, or sound like a gretsch. it sounds like an epiphone swingster. the swingster is an amazing guitar on it's own, and it doesn't need the gretsch comparisons to get people to buy it. i hope this is the last of the gretsch finishes for epiphone.
(my girlfriend plays a wildkat, and they're pretty cool too.)

I never liked the wild cat or the 5125 for that matter. I think like anything else, it is a limited edition, and even my GOD DARE I SAY IT...Ibanez 2001 model AKA85 DVS sounds better than a lot of guitars I have owned....GOD I DID SAY IT:::I just won't say which ones
LOLOL
They are going for 641€ in Europe, and I do have a sweet EJ 200 that is posibly better sound quality than my buddies Gid J-200 that he spent a fortune on...but hey his will have value, and mine will always be a Epi...so if your looking for budget and you dig Gibs and Epi than it is a good deal, and it being a limited run might just be a good idea to get one stick it in the closet and forget it is there for 20 years!
The black one is OBVIOUSLY A RIP OFF...but the White Limited still looks MUCH BETTER! BUT NOT BETTER THAN A GRETSCH!!!!!!!!!!
