Thanks! This is a great strat,it's really well made and plays as well as any american strats I have owned. I love the color too. It's really close to this real '64 strat below.
They weird thing is that my guitar is actually one of the later Fernandes The Revival models and it's not listed in any Fernandes catalog. I believe mine is a cheaper model that was was made between '89(pots) and '91(serial number). The model number is RST-40. The closest model I can find in the catalogs is the RST-48 in the 1990 catalog. That was the last catalog for the revival series.
I think the reason my guitar is a cheaper model is because it came with ceramic pickups. That is the only difference I can see between the more expensive RST-50 and my RST-40.These pickups actually sound great so I am not going to change them The only change I made was to replace the original 3-way switch with a 5-way.

in the early 80's, fernandes began making copies of telecasters, and stratocasters. they even shared the same headstock shape (as does yours). fender was not too happy about this, and they sued fernandes. fernandes was pressured into changing their headstock design around 1982(?). im not 100% sure on what year they changed it, but i have a fernandes 82-83 telecaster copy, and it has the redesigned fernandes headstock. i believe that your strat may be significantly older than you think.
however, i am no expert on these guitars. i just know that they are quite nice.

I think Fernandes changed their Strat headstock end of '85. I just threw out a '85 catalog showing both headstockstyles(not on the Revival strats mind you). Fantastic guitars. Could be had for under 300 bucks at the time, and the quality was rivalling good US strats.

Nice looking guitar. Some ceramic pickups can sound very good, I notice that you've also got full sized pots and a decent looking switch on there.

Thanks, yes,the original 3-way switch is made in USA. I's a good switch but I replaced it with a 5-way. The weird thing was, someone had glued the switch tip onto the switch. Had to use solvent to get it off.

I used to have a collection of early 80's Tokai strat and tele's, and if i remember right, they were built in the same factory,Fuji Gen Gakki,as fernandes, and the quality was fantastic.
There were so many quality reproduction guitars made in japan of the same ilk, Greco and Burny also. Great find.

Just picked up my new addition to my small collection, a Fernandes "The Revival" Strat copy on friday. Been researching about them and it seems they are usually very well made.Mine has nothing written on the neck butt or pocket but was told it is '54.Can anyone tell me how you tell the difference between the '54 and '57.And how can you tell if it's lacqure.

I have an Ibanez Blazer from "81 that i believe also came out of the FGG factory _ was Ibanez's first non pure Strat copy - after the Silver Series ( which as Fender do they were Sued over. I do believe any MIJ Fender is from the FGG factory now.
My Blazer is awesome - not quite factory spec any more ( it has had a hard life) but still one heck of a guitar _ BL550fr model
Will try to get soem pics up
