The CV's are a great deal for the bucks.
I've got a CV 50's Strat, that is my least
expensive guitar. My two favorite guitars
are, my most expensive, and my least
expensive.
I have six electric's, and have changed the
pickups on all but my two favorites.
Just don't tell anyone about how great they
are, otherwise Fender might raise the price
on them. LOL !!!
I did have the Strat set-up by someone that
knew what they were doing. I also had to have
it rewired, as the previous owner messed with
the pick-up switching, and had it all screwed up,
but it's all good now.
Which one are you getting ? I lean toward the
Butterscotch one.

As a matter of fact... I stumbled upon one in a major GC sale and have been quite pleased with it - on a mostly intuitive level. The only changes I made were 1. Heavier string gauge with accompanying adjustment at the bridge. 2. I changed the pickguard for asthetic purposes only. 3. I lowered the bridge PUP a nudge to avoid that icepick in your earhole served up on a razorblade effect common to teles (or their hearing damaged owners). Love the tone! Rings and sings. The neck feels very right although a convincing argument could be made for a pro set up and fret job for those with more exacting preferences than my ill bred self. The tuners are within reason but not bombproof. I would have zero hesitation playing live with this guitar.
It is what it is. It reflects the technology of a different era so immaculate precision is not it's selling point. It does capture that era quite well. It does not equate with Van Halen's or Gretsch's current proline offerings. It is an excellent back up for most anyone and a very reasonable first "legit level" guitar. If you told me this was last guitar for the rest of my life I doubt I'd blink more than once. Like any mass production guitar at this level, always play THAT individual instrument. I would be reluctant to order blind unless you had a liberal return policy like GC's. There are always stray dogs out there.
Play on!

All I have read about them seem to good to be true, but I must be. The nearest GC is over 70 miles from me, so I'll order from Sweetwater. The Hofner is going up on CL next week. I may sell the Bigsby B5 and Vibramate separate, do not know yet. Yes Blond all the way!! That guitar is almost as sexy as my wife!

Thanks. It's definitely a keeper. These CV's get consistently good reviews.
Hope the Hofner sells, so you can get one.

I will chime in . . . I also own a Classic Vibe Strat and it is one great guitar I don't think that this series of guitar can be beat for the money. If you get one you will be pleased. IMHO

I LOVE mine!
To this day, the only guitar that people come up to me at gigs and talk about. Sadly, have to sell it for monetary reasons. I fully intend on buying another one at the end of the summer when I can afford it again!

Outstanding tip guys. I have always wanted a tele and frankly the number of choices made me stay away. At this price, the sound clips, the reviews and your guys'es endorsement this will be my first tele someday. Cheers. Love the looks, sound, and price. Cheers.

Sad story..I sold my CV Tele topartially fund my Gretsch purchase. I bought it used, never any problems at all, great Tele like tones, very good intonation on the 3 piece brass saddles, and the nicest grain I have ever seen on a maple neck.

all the classic vibes are insanely good guitars. not just good for the money, but just really great guitars. i have the classic vibe duo sonic, and i love it. my oldest brother used to own three strats. an american, a mexican, and a squier classic vibe. the squier completely blew both fenders out of the water, and they were promptly sold.
i own the wayne kramer strat and, though i would never admit it to my brother, his squier sounds better.
DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THESE GUITARS
they rock.

I've got a BSB CV50 tele and love it. If you want that classic tele country lead sound there are few better guitars, and I reckon it beats most of the mid-range Fender teles easily.
Don't likes: the look (like a piece of furniture) and the quite weak neck pickup. Every other respect it's excellent. It comes heavily clad in polyurethane so can feel quite plasticky, but I found I soon got used to it.
I'm now thinking about replacing the neck pickup with a filtertron, on an expensive guitar I might not go down this route, but at these prices it invites customising.

They're really nice guitars. I've fancied the thinline one for a while....
But, I already have two tele's......

I've got a couple of CVs,' a 50s' Tele and a 50's white Strat. They're both excellent guitars for the money with good pickups, (made, I think, by Tonerider). As I prefer a slightly more Strat like sound from Tele neck pickups I swapped out the Tele neck pickup for a twisted Tele one. I stress that there was nothing wrong with the original, I just love twisted Tele neck pickups. In terms of build quality these guitars remind me of the, now classic, Japanese built Squier JV guitars.
