Default acoustic baritone suggestions?

Hi all. While i am waiting for the effects of nicotine to withdraw from my body. i am researching some future purchases. I am really into baritones at the moment, and have figured out which electrics i like. I am having a hard time finding acoustic baritones. Yes, i have seen the taylor and martin, but 3000 plus is not going to happen. Other than some guy on ebay that takes standard guitars and makes them into bari's, i cant find other acoustic versions, at least not under 1000. Do they exist? Do any of you play them? I would prefer one with a built in preamp. Thanks all, I am off to kick the dog u til this nic fix pass's.

Wow. I've been sold on that Taylor man... I've played one probably 40 times @ a local store and honestly leave a little more heart-broken every time.

Its like when your sleeping with your buddy's girlfriend and she wont leave him cause he makes more money than you. haha.

Gotta say I am unaware of that scene. In general, i always had the better job. The taylor sounds great on u tube, but haven seen one in person, not that its in my range by any means.

If you can track one down there's the Korean-made Avante AV-2 for ~$350, I hear reasonably good things about these, if you get the AV-2E it comes with a pre-amp. They look pretty cool & quirky, too!

don't know if you see the trend here, but i am trying to accurately get a feel for what a bass guitar and a hotrod can get in trade/sale. if i shop wisely, like for an acoustic baritone thats 350, i can get a baritone, either acoustic or electric, maybe a corvette cause slabs seem to work, and a used jet. assuming i keep doing my homework, and everything is used.. SSSHHHHH, its a secret.

Found a guy that takes acoustic bass's, and converts them into bari's. They are not the prettiest, as he has to add additional tuners, and change out the bridge, and they tend to all have bass necks, 32 and longer. But, they tend to cost between 450 and 550. Its called Terry'sbari's blog spot. he sells the on ebay as well.

Default Ovation

Ovation DS778TX. I own one, i love it. I'm sure i'll get eggs thrown at me, but i'm certainly a guy who will be honest, i've tried a lot of guitars in my day so far, and i adore Baritones, and for the money the Ovation is a great deal. It has it's plus and minus's, but it's still a Baritone, awhich has it's uniqueness that uou'll soon know after owning one for a short time(if you haven't owned one yet. I would love to own a Santa Cruz Baritone...someday

Baritones to me are like a fine wine...

Thats one tunes down to D, i looked into them, the price was reasonable, but with the scale, and after asking ovation, you cant tune it down to B. Thanks for bringing a dead thread back to life! I liv again!

If you're talking about the Ovation, heck yeah you can tune it down to B, though if i kept it that low i'd definitely install some heavier strings...

Just conditioned the fretboard and bridge on my Ovation baritone, then installed some D'Addario EJ18's(Heavy, .014-.059), suffice to say that i'm blown away...literally. I've always replaced the strings with the factory gauge that came on the guitar, which were actually a light gauge, .11-.50's, (never really bothered to measure). As if i wasn't in love with this sucker already, it's now twice as loud, almost endless sustain, man. I've always wondered what an Ovation Baritone would sound like with the deep bowl design, and after installing these new strings, i'd have to say the mid depth bowl is fine for baritone, deep bowl may be too deep and drown the mid's and hi's(would still like Ovation to pump out the deep bowl baritone though, lol)

I'm no Ovation salesman, but try an Ovation Baritone if you're in the market, and can find one...

I just bought a National Resophonic Baritone - steel tricone. It's changed my life. I can't play it for less than an hour non-stop each time I pick it up. Loud, complex , deep - it's all there - I had to save for almost a year to get it-----check them out if you can.

I tried a Gretsch electric baritone and sent it back. I now have a Taylor A/E and am comfortable with it. When I can play !

If none of them bite, you need to inform the authorities, as there very well may be a disease effecting rational thought going on. I wish you luck, and will keep my ears open.

I found your listing. Now theres 8. I am watching it and thinking good thoughts. However it would be a crime to cut open that guitar. Of it gets to that point, things can always be worked out.

Appreciate the good vibes, and i'd never hurt that guitar!
Good luck with your acoustic search
