Gibson ES-137
I recently bought a used 2004 Gibson ES137...A friend of mine had bought one about 2 years ago & asked me to check it out & check the set up & intonation. I just loved the guitar, & thought then that I would love to have one. I found this one used, & picked it up. It is a great guitar...anyone have one...???

I almost bought one a couple of years ago. I'd still like to have one. What's the sound like..........like a ES-335?
By the way, is it completely hollow or does it have the solid block down the middle of the body.

Hi All!
The ES-137 has a maple center block, just like a 335. It's pretty-much the Florentine cut-away version of a 335 and a lot cheaper.
You may be interested in the ES135, the discontinued predecessor to the ES137. It also has a center block but it is softwood, not maple.
I own a mid-nineties ES-135 which has a Bigsby B12 on it. That model usually had a trapeze tail-piece like on an ES175. It also had P-100s (stacked humbucker P-90s). P-100s seem fine to me, but didn't sell well so Gibson moved to the ES-137 with humbuckers.

He!! yeh I want one! Keef, check out page 6 of this thread. JC's got one.

You too, dlfcci. Here, I compare it to my Les Paul.
Thought I wanted a red one, but Man, yours looks a lot like the Motor City Madman's Byrdland. (only liked a couple of Ted's songs, but I love his philosophy. Saw him get drilled in the mouth with a ball bearing one night in KC, many years ago. I didn't do it.)
I think there are some 135's around with P-90's. Always liked the tone Thoroughgood got out of his Gibson...what the he!! was that...a 125?

I have had the 137 for several months now, & I have got to say, I loved this guitar the day I bought it, & it has just got better every day. This guitar is great. It plays so well, sounds better the more I get used to it. I now want a 2nd one...one with P-90's...One of the models comes with the P-90's...Sweet. This one is a 2004.

I have a custom one (es-137) from 2004 painted gloss black with silver ghost flames and it has a B7 Bigsby with chrome hardware. I'm working on a three pickup job for it with some TV Jones and Dynasonics on it right now! Its turning into quite the beast!!!

Is that you playin' with Margolin? Bob plays the sh *# !!!!.
If you're playing with Bob then I figure you must know the the sh *# as well. He's a fine player and all around nice guy. Bob was mentored by my father Muddy Waters.

I don't know if I know the Sh*# as well, but I do know Bob Margolin well...You are right, he is a great guy & he is a killer player. I have had the pleasure of playing with him many times over the years, our band has acted as his back up at several shows, I play with Lawyers Guns & Money that recently opened for Bob at at a EMF Fringe show in '08, and I brought Bob in for a Guitar Clinic at the Thursday Night Blues Jam that I help host last summer. The picture above is proof that you have to keep alert when you are on stage with Margolin...at the moment that that pix was snapped, Bob had wandered over to my side of the stage & motioned for he & I to trade back & forth with leads...cutting heads with Bob Margolin is one of the high-lights of playing music...he will push & test you...it IS A RUSH!!! Bob has had some nice things to say about my playing in area interviews & in an open letter to the area's Blues Society, & I will treasure those words as long as I am around. Bob is a guitar player's player!!!

Dafreeze,
I'd love to make that claim but unfortunatly I was born a white guy and I'm still bitter about that !! LOL
I was being figurative about Muddy. I idolize him as a father figure as well as a few others from the same period.
I will say this, I'm the blackest sounding/playing white guy you've probably ever heard.

I'd sure love one of those with P90s. I am in love with P90s right now and am in desperate need of a hollowbody with them. It'll probably be a Pete Anderson though.

The Pete Anderson Reverend looks really nice. The only thing that bugs me about it is that it's over a grand and it doesn't come with a case. That kind of chaps me for some reason.
