Default Epi Casino Finish: Nitro or Poly?

Just bought one yesterday (with a Bigsby!!!) -- curious what the finish is. Mostly so I know whether I can safely put it on a guitar stand or not.

P.S. I know, I know, pictures. I'll get something up here later, when I'm on the other computer.

It's poly, unless it's a vintage model, or one of the Lennon models.

I've got a sunburst one with a Bigsby. Great guitars

Excellent; thank you! Poly is good. Now I don't have to worry so much.

I'm surprised you need a stand.
Once I get my Casino out of it's case I can't put it down.

I have a 1997 made at Fujigen and it's better than the one I bought in 1966 (and swapped for a 1959 Tele in 1967). Both the original and the '97 were poly. Great guitar with a unique tone!

The '66 was not poly, it was nitrocellulose, built and painted in the same place as the Gibsons

Not clear that there's a compelling reason to pay for anything above the basic model, given that I'd switch out the bridge anyway, plus the least expensive comes in a beautiful T-Rose-esque dark red. Unless there's a huge difference in pickups. Are the P-90s on the basic model really inferior? If so, I'd switch 'em out for TVJones...and likely still come out ahead.

You are so right.

The Casino was always essentially a budget guitar. You can buy the expensive Gibson or the cheap Epi Casino. That's the way it was. But because three Beatles played a Casino Epiphone feels this cheapo guitar should now be an Elite guitar sold at elite prices. That's shady business.

Thankfully Epiphone isn't all bad and they do offer a standard Casino at an insanely great price. I have a standard Casino and I have a Lennon Casino. The difference between the two is so slight you don't even notice. The basic model is a fine way to go.

I have both the MiK model and the MiJ elitist model... both poly... But comparing both models would be like comparing the 5000 series Gretsch to the 6000 pro series for the pickups, finish, and just about everything...
