I spent the last few weeks grain filling...and waiting. The swamp ash had some pretty deep grain, so we had to do an additional coat and then spot fill a few places. The Lawrence-McFadden filler is good stuff. Unfortunately it takes several days to cure before it can be sanded.

I'll keep spraying this week. After a couple weeks of curing, I'll wet-sand and buff. Then, it's on to final assembly.

Here it is under the first coat of lacquer:

I think one of your guitars is in my future Mugsy. Maybe not near future (the wife and I are house hunting), but the GAS is creeping up on me.

I really like the contrast in the heel shot.

Someone else has similar taste. I'm working on another yellow (opaque urethane) with mahogany neck guitar for a customer in California. I'm not sure whether he has seen this thread. It will have a black pickguard and Super'Trons.

I am definitely not a photographer, but the De Lisle Standard arrived today!

The picture of the back turned out much better:

As did the picture Jer emailed me:

I have to admit that my expectations were pretty high, but this guitar has exceeded them in all areas. The neck is perfect, sounds great, plays great. And the tuners (which I picked) are probably the smoothest I've ever used. I've played it around the house (all evening) and I can't wait til practice next week and gig next month.

A beautiful and worthy alternative to a Les Paul Special.

Thanks, guys, and thank you, Bryan! You're a great employer

You've sold me on those tuners, too. I had been using Hipshot bridges for some time, so I don't know why I didn't think about their tuners. They are very smooth and precise. And the locking feature is a nice time saver during setup work.

That was the first P90 / Pentatone combo. I was surprised at how different the guitar sounds on each setting. I really liked #3--very smooth, almost like a jazzbox.

Some more pictures of Bryan's guitar:

The color scheme and pickups definitely have the LP special thing happening, but there really is no comparison IMHO. This thing really plays great, and I'm digging the pentatone switch quite a bit. I wasn't too sure what to expect at first, but it makes for some different, cool sounds.

Now that had me laughing out loud! I was joking around with Tavo about how I ought to have a sig model nocturne since I was using mine with the bass from the beginning! I get a pink Nocturne instead!

Some day Jer we may just do that!

Here's what became of the other yellow guitar...TV Jones Super'Trons, Hipshot hardtail bridge and locking tuners, Electrosocket jack mount, along with our Pentatone switch and string ferrule block.

Zionsville, Indiana? That is a mere 2.5 hours of motorcycle ride from me.
Thanks, caeman

Zionsville is a nice area. Not much to see or do in town, but it's close to Indy.
